I could really use some help from my fellow 100-Series peeps ...
My sunroof has been not draining properly. Had drains cleaned out, but had problems with the rear drains and ended-up sealing off my sunroof, to put a stop to water leaks.
Unfortunately, I still have dampness down my B-Column. My driver-side seatbelt is damp and the carpets below that area, as well.
Does anyone know where that could be coming from ...?
I have a Front Runner Roof Rack, mounted to the factory attachment points.
Might there be some leakage coming from those roof attachment points ...?
Super frustrating. Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you.

Tom

Most likelt roof attachment points.

If it's by the b pillar I would suspect the roof rack bolts. Pulling them out to reseal them is a relatively straight forward process albeit time consuming.

Check the plastic trim near the sunroof gasket- I had this issue a while back and realized the gasket was fine but there was a tiny hairline crack in the plastic cowl surrounding the molding that was actually letting water in.

Slimm, How did you fix leak in the plastic cowl?

I’ve got the same question. Found out our sunroof is leaking from cracks in trim piece. Is a whole gasket/trim kit available for these?

Trim piece on the exterior? These units aren’t sealed completely. They’re designed to allow water thy come In t run down the drains on the four corners.

If it’s dripping on you, check the drains as well as the well that the front drains run down into. They run outside behind the wheel up front next to the pinch weld. Behind a cover you can move and clear out. Mine had tons of debris and mud built up.

If that doesn’t fix it, check the base of the rack.

Mines leaking from the gasket trim piece attached to the glass itself. Drip is missing the drain channel entirely as it’s closer to the center and dripping into vehicle.
I just looked up some threads - apparently going to need to pull the glass and replace the weatherstripping. Awesome seeing how I don’t have a garage or covered storage 😕

Ahh

Yeah, that makes sense. Good luck with the repair man.

Yes…it is the bolts used for your FrontRunner rack….water is getting in there…I had similar issues….Just remove and use outdoor silicone or the like to seal up.

I have the same issue with the sunroof and more. Water is leaking between the sunroof glass and the seal...allowing water to drop and miss the drip-pan completely. Looks like I will be removing the sunroof glass and replacing the seal. Additionally, I have water dropping (a lot of water) from above the rear quarter windows. The rear carpet is soaked with over 1/2" of water and water ran down into access area for the rear body bolts. I've about got the headliner ready to remove and was able to peak up above the quarter windows where the rear roof rack mounts. I can see water dripping from the roof rack bolts. This is the first winter the vehicle has been outside since I purchased in July 2020...and we didn't have much rain last year in the Sacramento area. I suspect it's been leaking since I purchased it...just not enough that I noticed.

One thing I can see that may be a problem is the windshield A-pillar seal that runs about 15 inches up on top of the roof is about 1 inch short of meeting the rubber seal that is under the roof rack and runs towards the front. This is the same. I have two LX470's and the other one is over-lapping and appears to be glued together I posted a picture. As soon as I get the headliner out, I'm going to pour some water in the gap and see where it goes. FYI: The factory roof rack has never been removed and the 4 sunroof drain lines are clear and flowing.

Glad I'm not the only one with a drippy sun roof. Just put some permatex on a crack on the outter plastic trim piece, snows coming so I guess I'll find out if it worked soon enough.

I’m going to try the same with my sunroof. It’s leaking on the center rear plastic trim where the glass meets the seal. There is a seam there. Let me know how the Permatex works.

Had some rain last night that's turned into heavy wet snow and not a drop. I was concerned it wouldn't cure in time but it seems to be holding. I did the crack in the trim and then applied some where the glass and plastic trim meet.

Here's what I used and went with it cause it was black.

@Agent T just saw your thread, you got the whole interior out , why not try a bit of sealant at this point.:worms:

I would quit fooling with it and call a water leak company. I messed around with mine for hours and hours trying to find/seal a leak and gave up. Took it to a dealer that had a specialty vendor that they brought in once a week specifically for water leaks on Jeeps and it was done same day for $175. Dry as a bone since.

If your drip is missing the tray completely, it might not be the glass to body seal, but the inner rubber that's bonded to the glass itself. Mine leaked there earlier this winter and I was able to seal it up. As far as I know, that seal isn't available separately and comes with a new glass assembly for ~$700. If anyone knows differently I'd love to know.
