I got a 9.5x warn winch 10K pound and a new truck. The mounting hole are faced down to the ground instead of straight ahead like I normally mount a winch. Will this hold up or break something on the winch? It is on a 84 truck so not much weight to pull even if stuck like a landcruiser.

Hi All:

No problems with the "feet down" mounting of the Warn 9.5 electric winch. You just need a solid mounting cradle to bolt that winch onto.

On a FJ40/45/55 a simple "boiler plate" winch mount that bolts onto the front frame rails can be used; on a '84 Toyota 4wd truck it probably is not quite as simple . . . .

Good luck!

Alan

Hey, Adam. I have a XD9000i on my FJ40, also bottom mounting holes. If we get a chance to go wheeling, take a look. Here's a trick for ya.........use silicon to secure the nuts into the recessed slots. :D

I have a home made bumper that is stout so I am not worried about ripping the bumper I just dont want to crack the actual winch from the bolt pulling out. Bigndn we got to go soon, also do you have a sawzall I need to make the hole in the front bigger it is to low and hitting on the cross support of the winch. I figured you cant remove these and still have it be strong.

At least 95 % of the winches in use today mount this way, and I have yet to hear of problem about the mounting it self
