Has anyone looked at the Warn Trans4mer for the Tundra to see if it could be adapted to the Land Cruiser - specifically the late model ones 2016+?

I saw a Tundra with one in traffic the other day, and it looks like a good option, since it doesn't require tearing the front bumper off. I'm not interested in rock crawling, so I don't care about extreme approach angles and such and I think this would be functional. I wish I could have followed the guy and got a measurement, to see how it fits. Does anyone know someone who has one on a Tundra?

@BW200 I think this might better serve you

Yes, I like that @krice118 , thanks! I have been looking for one of those as well.

I would like to have the brush guard too, just without having to do a whole bumper replacement to get it.

I personally would never get a Brush Guard. They are known as damage multipliers

The reason is that in a front end impact, that brush guard can hinge into the grille, radiator, headlights, and hood depending on the model, where it may have only been a bumper hit

Now an ARB Bull bar can avoid damage
Daughterofromer learned the value of Armor - Accident

Note both those are on road issues.

Not an issue if you get a proper one that has 4 points installation vs. cheap versions which bolt on from the bottom only. For example push bar from Toyota sold in Australia is properly done. Here it is a picture of mine. Notice extra support at fog light level which bolts on to frame and actually is the main support piece. Bottom is more of a support only.

Still looks like it would bend back into the grill etc to me. That is my opinion and if your preference is a Brush Guard then you should get one

Edit: I may be wrong on this one. Are those brackets to the frame about halfway up? If they attach to the frame that would be sufficient support

See post 11 where I have posted pictures of brackets

That does look to be a well thought out Brush Guard. You did say it was from Australia and they do a good job with robust designs

So I will rephrase and say I would not get a Brush Guard unless it was this one :)

I still prefer a Bull Bar though as this Brush guard would not have prevented damage in the daughterofromer situation I posted above. Plus I know a guy who hit a deer on the highway and all he had to do was wash the bumper off. With that said, personal preference is over half the reason we buy things.

@Romer , I think maybe you should look at the Warn Trans4mer before you dismiss it as some weak cosmetic "brush guard". Those were my words not theirs. The Warn product looks very substantial, and has thick uprights with a 12,500# winch mount in between, it's not some cosmetic accessory. They just don't make it for the LC.

And that nudge bar from Toyota is not a brush guard, it's a nudge bar, exactly as named it is designed for pushing another vehicle out of the way, for law enforcement and such. It doesn't have the side hoops for "bushes".

I don't see how I dismissed it. After he showed me the design it seemed like well built and I said so. My comment was it doesnt provide the protection of a Bull Bar. A lot of people dont like the bull bar because of the bars. It comes down to a personal preference thing.

I was saying you dismissed the Warn that I started the thread with, not the nudge bar that Luke brought in later. I know about the weakness of cosmetic "brush guards", and wasn't suggesting that they were better than bull bars or full bumpers. What I was saying is that the Warn Trans4mer winch mount and grille guard system looks fairly substantial (my mistake for misleading by using "brush guard" in the post). And I was just wondering if anyone has seen the Warn Trans4mer up close and personal like, to get an opinion on it.

Fair point. I did not research the Warn product you asked about and therefore can not credibly comment on it one way or the other

From what I see in this Warn YouTube, it seems the full Trans4mer setup would in fact be the classic damage multiplier. A fairly light hit could take out $1000s in parts. If just the winch tray were adaptable to an LC, then maybe less damage? Even that would leave the winch way out front and vulnerable.

The trans4mer is an interesting idea. Modular winch mount that could be adaptable to many models. While I like the idea of the trans4mer, it's a bit un-integrated in the look. Warn does have their Hidden Hitch line that is more model specific and these look great.

I think there's an untapped hybrid type bumper market in the 200-series, that takes the idea of the trans4mer, but more tailored. Southern Style also does these types of bumpers for other Yota models
