Well I just opened my the box to my new winch to test the air compressor functionality:

It rocks.

I just inflated a 35 MTR on stock a 16x8 rim from 11.5psi to 39psi in exactly 120 seconds.

the english language and my typing.....well let's just say it's late...i'm tired, and can only think about the bumpers and rock sliders that I'm designing/building:)

Wait...the power plant winch can mount somewhere on the 80?

Awesome--I was wondering about these. Cody--it's a new Warn Winch with an air compressor built into it.

Two birds with one stone? I'm curious to know how they work and if it will fit in an ARB.

BTW--which one did you get--the HP or the HD?

where did you mount it? i would love to get this but i don't know if it will mount on an arb with out a lot of modding ..though it would be worth it and also I would worry about it blocking to much airflow to the radiator.

I haven't built my bumper yet. I dont think the small amount of airflow to the radiator will effect the engine coolant temp because at speeds lower than 5 mph when rock crawling, there is no real airflow besides what the fan is drawing in and the winch will not block/effect that air.
Plus, the truck is built to tow a lot of weight and as long as your not pulling what it's meant to pull, then the small amount of air deflection that may be caused shouldn't effect engine coolant temp either.

The tranny cooler was my concern. However, it does not block enough of the cooler to make a difference if you ask me. Plus, if it does effect the tranny temp by more than 5 degrees then i'll relocate and add a small fan just in case.

I might do a test by checking operating temp of trans pulling a small trailer at 55mph on the freeway vs w/o the winch mounted and see if a tranny scan gun can pick up the temp difference...that would be the true test. If i get a chance to do that this summer, i'll post the results....whether they favor me or not:)

2010, the year of old thread revival. So how is your winch doimg, and any cooling problems to report?

kcruiser33, sounds like you've put a powerplant in an arb...have you had cooling issues on hills? also, any pics of the fit?

Yep, I'd like to bug the poster and revive these threads myself.
