i had no issues at all putting an m15000 in my arb on fat bastard. no spacers, just bolt right up.

the fairlead didn't line up well. i had to drill holes and open up the opening for the rope. i have a roller fairlead with plastic rollers

Yep, same result (no spacers) both with a M8K in my 450, and the M12K in the black 80. Both were standard ARB bumpers.

The pic @fantic posted is 180* opposite how I did mine (doesn't seem to matter, different but neither is wrong as I can guess).

Looking @ my winch the motor is on the right, planetary/ engage end on left.
I'm left-handed, so I set it up that way - if I was a rightie I'd set up like fantic did.

As for the solenoid box mounting on the motor case, The back of the solenoid baseplate has/had 2 pedestal feet with curving bases that match the motor OD.

If they are still that way, you can buy 2) ~5 1/2" hoseclamps & band it down.

For winding synth, I just 2-man it with my Dad sitting in the cab. He runs winch & idles the 80 in N with enough brakes to wind the rope tight while I am outside with the rope just simple grab to any real anchor(tree).
Once I get 4 good wraps on the drum from the anchor crimp, all tightly & neatly stacked then I let Dad really brake short of lockup while I am grabbing the belly of the line to guide it back & forth on the drum.

Between simply winding it perfect from the base & using the brakes at near lock with winch pulling the 80, it winds tight enough I never have had the line bury itself in the spool & I've used this method 10x (guess, between the 2 80's & 8+ yrs on both) since I wash the rope whenever I really get it muddy.

That Warn line is a little different than how Masterpull sends it to us if you buy as aftermarket.

Your line if it's the same stuff as a Zeon is grey rope w/ a red outer guard down at the base, seems like 'grip enhancer' to me - Masterpull is just a crimp ring terminal to that bolt on the spool.
I've not yet spooled the Zeon if you want a pic of red- I looked & the thimble is the opposite end(rope still in bag). Still saving the $$ for the Tundra bumper.

Also-
What's the "strange hardware" for the line?

I've not even cracked into my Zeon, just pulled it out to look at the "shiney new toy" & inspect for any shipping damage/parts missing. And I noticed I had to clock it, but the default currently from Warn favors clutch lever/LH operation. Meh:meh:.

Edit: Zeon has the solenoid box in a bridge over the endcaps, so clocking is trickier, but if anybody wanted to fit one in a ARB it would seem the only issue would be cutting back those angles to fit w/ the bridge, or buy the bridgeless solenoid relocate kit (more $, less fun;))

Strange to me, I should have said:)....I'll take some pics at lunch.

Thanks for the feedback.

Turns out it was just this one piece:

How did you mount your control box? I have the same set up but can’t find a good spot to put the control box.
If you look behind the license plate bracket there are two smaller screws. That is where the controller box bolts to. Not sure if that came with the winch or the bumper. I bought them at the same time.

I see the holes there. What mount did you use to screw in to? Was it the original mount that came with the winch?

IIRC, it was a golden zinc bracket that came w/ the ARB sorta a ‘Z’ shape side profile but w/ 90* angles to set back the solenoid box. Was roughly a 3/16” sheet steel thick unit.

Gotcha. Thanks for the help! I don’t think my bumper came with that bracket. I’m searching online for it and can’t seem to find it. If it’s not too much trouble, could you take a photo of the bracket attached to the bumper?

I never used it - Sorry.

I have the M12K older style with the curved feet that were either the motor or planetary/clutch end (think the motor, otherwise it’d be in the way of the clutch lever) - you used 2) ~5 1/2” hose clamps to mount it & bonus is the whole box sits back guarded by the bumper.

Post #17 / pg 1 in this thread shows it - it’s the center top gold zinc part (only gold zinc in pic)

Pretty sure it came w/ the bumper as my Warn I bought used & rebuilt it so I got just the basics there but I know I had the gold zinc bracket.

HTH

I believe Linus is correct on the zinc bracket. I will try to snap a pic tonight after work.

I think I can see how it works now. I’ll mess with my box and see if that works. Thanks guys!
Is this the bracket? If so, I can’t seem to get it to fit behind the bumper/license plate.

No, that bracket is some sort of hanger for the remote & coiled cord when actually outside & using the winch - that’s what I was told forever ago.

That said, I’ve never once seen one mounted on any ARB/winch bumper, no Ford, Rover, Jeep or ‘Yota - nothing ever.

Below is a picture of mine.
