I have recently installed my HS9.5i winch onto an ARB bumper feet forward.
The clutch lever is on the drivers side of the vehicle.

When I hook to a tree or another vehicle and try to pull the winch will pull, but it appears not at it's full capacity. Meaning, when I apply full brakes and or have another rig hooked to the rear of my vehicle the winch will barley pull or not at all. It will pull my vehicle up a slight incline (i mean very slight) but is really bogging down. This winch should pull my vehicle from parked position, I mean drag all four tires, but it cannot at this point.

I have a battery that is rated at 500CCA or 750 CA's. Is this enough power? I'm going to try hooking up a dual battery tomorrow to see if that helps with pulling power....

Second question: The winch will not hold (brake) tight when I release the spool in on the hand controls. It is like the braking system on this winch will not hold the weight. does anyone know if this winch is setup to hold the weight and or what might be the issue if it is not?

I will post up a couple pictures of my setup tomorrow.

Any help with this would be appreciated.

Here are the specs on my winch.

Warn HS9500i Self-Recovery
The HS stands for High Speed. The 9500 stands for the rated line pull. Fast vehicle retrieval was designed into this winch series right from the start. That's because most off-road winching situations require driving and steering while pulling. The faster the no-load line speed, the less likelihood the vehicle will drive over the wire rope. Fast retrieval also reduces the chances of bird's nesting and over-wraps that damage wire rope. So the HS9500 is the perfect blend of speed, efficiency, torque, reliability and durability.
