It seems to work, they last a damn long time..

:meh:

Probably best to follow warn's recommendation on weight. Some put a little extra in, but don't go overboard. Some put some additive in to help the oil climb the gears better.

I used STIHL Bar and Chain lube.

30W Non Detergent, Tacking agent that will help the oil climb the gears, Rust inhibitors, etc.

I added 8 oz for the heck of it. It looks like a little puddle in the bottom.

I added most of a quart of gear oil when I had it apart. It didn't leak for a year, then left a small puddle on the garage floor. It seems to be fine, and the type of oil you use probably does not matter at all. That's my theory, and I'm sticking to it!

You must have thought the same thing I did.

6oz is not very much.

I have been running Amsoil 75-90w gear lube in it for about 6 years now...no problems.

I just picked up another 8274 with everything included for $400! Now which rig does it go on??? The wife's 80 with the arb bumper.. or the wife's 40???
