I found a warn 8274 for sale for $350. What is a good used one worth? It works has cable hook and roller fairlead.

Buy it. Seems to be on the low side of the going rate around here. As long as it looks good and works, do it.

If it works (powers in, powers out, and free spools) and isn't dented and rusted to heck and back I'd pay that.

can somebody put an approximate value on it? I'm probably not going to use it, I thought it seemed like a good deal and was planning on using it to do some trading/bartering.

New is between $1200 and $1500. Used in good shape and with a good cable ( good oil, no rust, frayed or pinched cable) seem to regularly be listed on CL for $400- $600 and I've seen them as high was $800. Most people I think pay in the 4-6 range. Sometime you luck out and people don't know what they have and sell almost new ones for $100...

Try $1500-1800 new. They increased the price considerably in the last few years.
