That's a lot of stump . . .

My method is wasteful: Cut it flush to the ground as you can get. Cross-hash it down as far as you can go with the chainsaw. Pour in diesel. Pour a chimney of coals on top of the stump.

I'm confused, I thought you said the stump was halfway out and the trunk was laying over when the tree guys cut it. So why does it look like the roots grew back?

It it won't budge, I'd agree with Jamie, cut it flush. Then score it with your chainsaw and let it rot out. It's still green, so it won't burn well now.

If you do get a tractor, DO NOT pull it out in a fwd gear, it will flip. Pull it out in reverse.

Use your chainsaw to cut the remaining roots, but use a water hose to hose off roots to see which ones are still attached.

That is the detailed kind of advise that you can't find in regular social media.

If you do get a tractor, DO NOT pull it out in a fwd gear, it will flip. Pull it out in reverse.

^^ That is personal experience, right there... Wonder if @Beau Diddly is in a video somewhere?

Not unless you use a moonshine-powered tractor!!

This is why they make dropped drawbars.

Tree fell two years ago. It was 72 feet tall. Came down in a storm and was uprooted completely. Since it fell on the neighbors property/house, their insurance paid to have it cut up. Although I told them to leave the stump out, they came why I was at work and used their large bobcat to push it back in. I was pissed.
It has since settled in with dirt, rain, etc. it's a big boy. The hole it left from the root ball was about 5 feet deep. It has to go one way or another. Burning is not a real viable option. I've tried soaking with diesel and lighting, it burned for a bit but wouldn't catch.

No, but maybe a couple of "damn, that was close"

Since you can't do it Sat and have graciously offered Moonshine to the club to get the stump out, I may just no show our HAMOM so I can play with Moonshine. Heck, we'll have half the trees in the neighborhood pulled up. With a few tweeks, we'll have ole Moonshine rolling coal and road-trip it to Asheville to find a few Prius'.

Well, heck - now I am stumped.

Mini HAMON! Since it sounds like the stump is going to come right out in a matter of minutes, If you got something you need to work on, bring it on! I have limited space, but we can do some small things. I've been wanting to do a valve adjustment etc...

Here ya go

My brother-in-law just posted that on my Facebook! Glad mine didn't go like that.

Boo. Making fun rather than helping get to the root of the problem. A person has to branch out to find a solution and stick to the plan or knot get involved and leave it for some other sap to fix.

Punny, very punny

I've been quietly awaiting your response. Bravo

We've really gone out on a limb with this thread.
