Howdy all,

Got referred over here by Bluetribal, from this thread https://forum.ih8mud.com/showthread.php?t=188657 , who thought some of you LA area ih8mud'ers might be gracious enough to help inspect a couple 80's this Saturday morning?!

First one is bright and early Saturday morning in Manhattan Beach at 9am and another at 11am in Hollywood.

I'd love the company and expertise if anyone's interested.

Cheers,
Brad

Sorry will be working.

Did I mention the tall boy at o'beer thirty after the second tour?

Brad I hope you find the help you are looking for on short notice and I don't mean to put you LA guys in the spot light but maybe if you live near by he can test drive it over to you??

Does anyone know of a good shop besides TLC where he could have a cruiser inspected if he is really interested in it?

Brad, I will PM my cell # and I will try to help you out with any questions if you don't get anyone to join you.

Yeah I could help you out on the Manhattan Beach one since its right next store, PM me the info.

Need to be prompt I could stick around for 45mins or so and then need to take off for the kids soccer game at 10:15

Big props to Brian for being extraordinarily nice and helping a complete stranger check a cruiser. I really appreciated it and felt good about getting an experienced opinion. Will have AAA run an inspection and prob buy it if everything looks good...

Will keep you posted!
Brad

My pleasure brad, nice meeting you and the owner :)

Overall with 90k looked like the 94' had been taken care and is pretty clean. Would be hard to find a 94 with those few miles in that shape in my opinion.

Exterior and interior is excellent shape, newer Bridgestone duelers looked great

Besides a knuckle job (passenger side axle seal leaking) and coolant change maint. appeared up to date for the most part. Brake fluid looked a little dark so I would change that at some point also.

Engine idled look it should, tranny shifted smooth, steering felt solid, AC cold,. 4w lo and both lockers worked.

Post up if you get it and want some help with the knuckle job, sure we could help you knock it out on the next mod/maint. day or something. With the magic dial you'll will be surpised what a 80 can do offroad so please come out with the group if you have the chance.

Take care

Post up if you get it...

Will do. Having a AAA inspection done tomorrow or Tuesday per your suggestion and will buy if everything looks good.

I'm hoping it all checks out cause its been a while since I had a car I really liked and I've wanted a cruiser for a long long time.

Kinda funny, but I think I already have head gasket paranoia and I dont even own the car yet!! haha

Congratulations, hope it works out for you. Post up some pics if the deal goes through.

You think you have paranoia now, wait till' you are driving through the desert in the middle of Summer. I have paranoia and my HG has been replaced, but mine comes from a major overheating incident a month after purchasing it due to a severely clogged radiator that was not caught by the Toyota dealer during the full inspection and maint. the weekend before my trip.
