Hey Team,

I've removed my intake manifold and entire EGR system. Just wanting to get rid of that idle VSV also if it's not important, just wondering what components have to stay and what ones can go, and upon removal if anything needs blanked.

And also what's that vacuum diaphragm for on the throttle body?

Enjoy this photo of my poor cylinder head

Happy New years

VSV = Vacuum from vsv valve to shut the engine down by closing the air off using that butterfly is used on 13bt and 12ht intakes.
not sure on the 2lte if it shuts off the same or not.

I know thry use those vSv valves for 4wd, turbo indicators and other things as wel

Here is a vacuum diagram for the 2L-TE. Just follow the vacuum lines from the EGR system and delete them. IIRC there is only one line that comes from the vacuum reservoir that needs to be plugged. I posted a basic delete in my first build thread; the only block off plates you will need are at the two ends of the pipe that goes from the exhaust manifold to the intake across the back of the engine.

IIRC? Can you specify which one needs to be plugged? Cheers.

Also, is all the small diaphragm with the arm going to the small to throttle plate able to be removed ? Cheers

It looks like the line that goes through the little tube on the crossover pipe is the one that provides vacuum to the EGR system, that one gets plugged and everything downstream of it can be removed.

The small diaphragm can be removed, and I would also strongly recommend taking out both throttle plates, just don’t disturb the throttle position sensor on the end of the large throttle plate shaft.

Here are the posts from when I did this: hopefully the photos are helpful in determining what can go.

Does your truck run better with the larger one removed? That's interesting. Thank you for the help!

Absolutely! The throttle plates are only there to make the engine suck the exhaust in from the EGR, diesels don’t need them and shouldn’t have them in my opinion. You will notice a significant improvement in low rpm torque with them gone; basically it allows the engine to breathe much better.
