2001 Land Cruiser, 160k miles

I was running my Land Cruiser there a day and the check engine light came on with the VSC track and the VSC off lights illuminated on the dash. There is no problems when I am driving the car but I still took it to an advance auto to read the diagnostic codes.

I got the following codes
C0205
C1201
C1223
C1241
C1246
C1340
P1126

The guy at advance auto said there were some problems with the electronics in the ABS system and also the engine. He did not going to more specifics. I just want to know if I am able to drive the car or if it's something that is really serious and I need to get it taken care of sooner rather than later.

Thanks for your help.

Check the battery voltage and battery condition. A poor battery or charge system could cause ABS issues. Check earth leads and battery terminals also. C1241 code is a low voltage fault. I would concentrate on this as the others issues could just be a symptom of this code.

Hi Julian. Thank you for your reply. I will check it out and let you know how things go.

Also look and see the "P" light bulb is lit or not on your cluster.

What would it mean if it were? My P light is always illuminated and I have a CEL as well as both VSC lights as of this morning after a hard rain.

Any update on the culprit that caused the problems? My 2004 has just done the same thing today. Everything is running good, it seems to be electrical in nature but it mine isn't related to dash bulb lights being burnt. Still have to check connectors.

It is very likely a bad wheel speed sensor. Do a search and you'll find a lot of info on it.

Check your brake fluid level. My Sequoia did this frequently when the brake fluid was low.

Btw, my Check engine light was based on Oxygen sensor fault after I got the codes. Disconnected the battery and re-hooked after looking around both O2 sensors spraying PB blaster to pre-loosen nuts and checking connectors. When battery was hooked up all warning went away. Check engine light might have been a loose connection but may have to change sensors eventually because they last only about 90k and I have 92 k on the vehicle. The VSC lights went off too after battery reconnection, so the appearance of the VSC lights going on is common to O2 sensor fault.

I had the lights come on yesterday CEL AND VSC track VSC off as I put it in park in the shopping mall.I filled up fuel a hour before and check cap and it was loose so I tighten it. As aomeone mentioned I noticed that the lights in the cluster when I put it in park is not showing. In drive and reverse and 1st and 2 st its fine.I'm not sure if this is related but when I was in cruise control early doing 70 miles as it's 120 kilometers speed limit the cruise control would cut off also by it self could it be a speed sensor.

How do I reset to get rid of lights just disconnect battery for couple minutes.

Some automotive stores will read and clear the CEL codes in the US. You can buy a code reader on-line and clear it yourself. There are wireless code readers that hook up to your phone that you can get on the internet for under $30 USD.

The wireless ones that hook up to your phone you just purchase the app or something and it installs .Which one is best recommended ?.

I like it because you can leave it connected to the vehicle without it getting in the way while you drive( in the 100 series) and watch all the meters on your phone. Other cars might need extensions to avoid it being in the way of foot pedals, all depends on where the ports are in each particular vehicle.

My VSC lights were caused by the Park & Drive lights. But before you run out & try to buy those bulbs (they are not readily available & the sales guys of 3 different auto parts stores had never even see them before) try just tightening them down. Mine weren't burned out. They just needed tightening & the VSC lights went off.
Do a quick YouTube search for how to remove the steering wheel & instrument cluster. It's pretty simple & can be done in about 5 to 10 minutes.

Hi! Did you ever get this resolved? Having the exact same issue. For years the VSC lights and CEL would go on after a hard rain for a day (or less), but they've been on since last week.. Today my "P" light began staying lit while in drive/reverse/etc.. Getting the codes read this weekend but any insight would be appreciated! I got my sunroof drain lines cleared a few months ago so I don't believe it's water leaking in? Ugh.
