Looks good. Llike the PCM mount...if water gets that high then you'll have other concerns. :)

Airbox looking good.

Got a question for you...Have you figured out how to wire the GM alternator to integrate correctly with the 40 wiring?

I havent given much thought to the alternator. i didnt realize there was any difficulty wireing it. It only has 2 wires one is output to batt. the other i thought whent to ignition. Is there something im overlooking?

what wires from yota harnes connect to what wires from the "plug / pigtail" on the GM alternator? That's the magic question. I don't have the answer as mine is a single wire alternator right now.

Given that you would run large guage wire from the "stud" connection on ALT direct to battery.

I plan to get mine "re-done" I have the larger 140 amp alt on my engine for now... If I come across teh solution I msg you.

I let the smoke out of my fusable link one day in the past when i was trying to see what would work. Figured out that when wire gets hot...smoke to follow :)

update

Well it seems im running around in circles these days. I finally got all the fuel lines ran and the tank plumbed and new fuel level sender installed. but i have a leak . It looks like i used the wrong fitting at my fuel filter. i have what i think is the right fitting now so hopefully over the weekend i can swap them out. Got a new power steering line made yesterday so hopefully i can wrap that up soon as well. spent a whole day running back and forth to parts stores trying to find radiator hoses. Modified my old battery trays to hold both batts on the drivers side. Im running out of room under the hood!

Is this b!tch gonna be ready by New Year's, or are you gonna run one of the Celicas?
Hell they dont run either! I thought i had plenty of time but now i am starting to worry:meh:

Well i put the starter on a was ready to fire this thing up. fit the starter and it just spins. after a closer look it seems i was given the wrong size flywheel so now the tranny has to come back out. this sucks! 1 step forward 3 steps back.

oh that bites.... I think I used 168 tooth flywheel? whatever is stock for 1999 GM SUV/Pickup.

Can you trade starters rather than flywheels?

I had a creative spell the other day with mine when I was trying to rig up a fan shroud and I "hosed" my ps cooler. I should be able to rig up something that works tomorrow...hopefully if I can get some hoses made. Santa bought me a new PS cooler.

yes i could and almost did use a different starter. one from a 90 covette will work but i think i will be better off in the long run to use the larger 168 tooth flywheel and larger clutch considering the type of use this thing gets. if it where something that was only on the street i wouldnt bother to swap the flywheel. Trans is out again and parts will be returned tommorow then re-in the trans fri. morn. i'll be lucky if i get a test drive much less a shack down before the new years run.

Got the trans back in this morning. mounted starter, and tested the starter. bypassed the fuel pump relay, turned on ign switch and hit the starter again and it came to life. this thing is so quit while ideling all u hear is the fan spinning. Still a lot to do but it was great to finally hear it run.

My tranny is back in too :bounce:

Worked on this thing almost all day this past sunday, got almost all the wireing done but ive had s##t for luck, finished plumbing the heater lines filled with coolant started engine, ran about 45 seconds and the water pump started leaking. Replaced water pump. Wired alt. didnt work, spent an hour trying to figure out what i did wrong. Gave up toke the damn thing off, whent to AZ to have it tested... FAIL. Bought a reman, put it on and nothing! spent another hour trying to figure out why. Back to AZ traded up for a new alt. installed and am good to go. Seems like a have to do everything at least twice. Worked on gauge cluster its almost done, now i need to lower the t-case to get the e-brake drum back on. it wont fit around the x-member. then i can put the drive shaft back in and mybe go for a test drive.

Drum is back on and drive shafts are in now to fill the trans and t-case.

"let's" compare notes on the Alt wiring once you are good.... assume the vehicle wiring is the same..

update

Sorry for leaving everyone hanging. ive been a slacker and did not keep this up to date. i did make my jan 1st deadline but just barely. i took the cruiser out for a test drive friday night (jan 31) then hit the trail the next morning. Two problems ,motor seems to lose all power above 2k rpm and the transfer case wouldnt stay in low. So i spent three days on the trail in high range. i was very impressed with this engine, the cruiser is almost as slow now in hi as it was before in low and the throttle response is great. Also had some trouble after deep water crossings, the engine would die about 10yrds after crossing. it always started back up and ran fine. im guessing that the crank sensor the cause.

got the t-case issue resolved. one part of the linkage was not tight enough. this was an easy fix once problem was found.
