Hey guys, we are going to be chillin' over on Edisto Beach for a few days starting tomorrow and I thought I'd see if you guys could give us any pointers on places to eat or things that need to be seen.

We will probably go over to Charleston a day or two, will be passing thru Columbia going and coming back, and I'm not above a short ride to see something cool or eat at a landmark.

Good seafood joints are high on the list. Might even be able to slip out on evening if any of you are local and would want to grab a

Thanks in advance.

Go to the Wreck on shim creek, awesome hole in the wall seafood place. Also the Hunley submarine from the civil war is in charleston, there is the aquarium.

Go to the Beach at Botany Bay on Edisto. It is also a hunting preserve so it may be closed for hunting season. It has a beautiful tree boneyard on the beach. The Plantation Grill in Ocean Ridge Resort is also good. Whaley's is also a great little place to eat! My family has been going there once a year for as long as I can remember until this year:(

As far as Charleston, you really can't find bad food in this town! It all depends on what you are in the mood for and what side of town you are on. Oh, and of course, what your budget looks like. If you don't mind spending a bit more, go to Husk for dinner. Ranked the best restaurant in the US or something, I don't know who ranked it... But it's dang good. For brunch, Poogans Porch. For a good beer and atmosphere go to Edmunds Oast or The Biergarten. For activities, downtown is awesome - plenty to see just walking around if you're only in town for a day. If it's raining, go see the Hunley Submarine. If you don't feel like hitting the downtown area in good weather, go see Fort Moultrie.

Thanks guys. I am making notes and relaying the info. I have no idea what the actual plan will be, but I will keep you guys posted.

Piggly Wiggly is always an experience. Sea Cow is good for a burger.

Ah, yes, Holy City is great if you just want to stop for a beer or two! I like the Pluff Mud and the Chucktown Follicle Brown. @scott johnson brought a bunch to GSMTR and I've been hooked ever since.

@greenseaman you ever tried the restaurant at the marina? There is also a McConkey's Jungle shack and buck's pizza, ever had either of those places?

This is a quintessential sleepy beach town, there is nothing for miles out here.

We hit up the beach at Botany Bay today. That is crazy.

We did the loop tour and hiked out to the beach. It is closed M-F for hunting so we hit it up today.

Tried out a little joint called McConkey's Jungle shack tonight... Can't recommend it. I didn't care too much for the food and they are obviously on their off-season staff, so the service wasn't the best. And on top of all that they add 20%, yep 20% gratuity to every check. That alone was enough to turn me off.

Supposed to rain tomorrow, so not sure what is on the agenda.

Yep, I've never really tried McConkey's, Bucks is pretty good and there may be another pizza place beside Whaley's that is really good. Dockside and Waterfront are okay... Sea Cow is great for breakfast too. It is a really sleepy town. That's why we like it!!!

You used to be able to find great shells at Botany Bay Beach but you couldn't take them with you:(

Nope, signs everywhere saying not to take any. I did my part and hung a nice one one of the palm monoliths standing there.

Will have to check over by Whaley's. I think my MIL found a menu for the Waterfront, so that may happen one night. Sleepy is good for a day or two, but I don't "sit" well and am already thinking about all the other things that I could be doing. I know it is a needed break for me but I struggle to turn it off.

Edisto is awesome IF you have a boat and the weather is nice. I go for a week every year, and I thoroughly enjoy it. If the weather stinks, and you're stuck inside, it's maddening because they're isn't much to do on the island.

Forgot about Bucks, it is good pizza. Edisto is sort of like stepping off the planet for a few days.

We hit up the Sea Cow tonight, it was great. Highly recommend it. We are probably gonna hit it up breakfast one day too.
