I had an argument with a co-worker the other day about google's data-mining

him: "You say it as if it's a bad thing.."
me: "No... I say it as 'it's a thing'... how you take it is your discretion, I'm just saying, they're doing it, good or bad"

It's not a good thing to snoop on us. It will lead to much, much more. I don't want to have to think about meaningless comments for fear of how they could be interpreted by a pin head bureaucrat.

all too common.

the male and dog are both lucky to be alive.

I would hire the best lawyer I could afford to go after the SOB that snatched the camera down.

on a not semi related to the militarized police force, has anyone watched the documentary dirty wars on netflix?

The weird parts to me are mainly that two out of four people in the house were arrested, one of the ones that wasn't locked himself in the bathroom with a gun, not to mention the fact that they had more cameras in the house than a bank.

I suspect the police know more about these people than they are letting out. I can also understand blocking or removing cameras in the middle of a raid, whose to say there isn't some nutbag in the back watching a live feed planning his counterattack.

I'll admit that's reasonable.

Cameras are cheap though. I have a 4 camera system. Expandable to 8.

For what Effin reason?!
I'm all for security... but to protect against theives stealing something worth obsessing over. I will not spend even $400 of a surveillance system to protect a $200 TV and $300 laptop that's eBay value is not even $100...

Being the IT guy, I've always managed the security systems, so I know what it takes and doesn't take. Even helped a friend set up a two-camera internet based system on his business.

Anyone with that many cameras placed in and outside is afraid of and watching for a lot more than police.

I must have read that wrong the first time, or something. my bad.

I just saw this.
I have it because I have been robbed.
each time the police showed up did their little song and dance and let me know unless the thieves show back up with a written confession there is basically nothing they can/will do about it.

when my parents were robbed a few months ago they did more property damage to get in than what they took was worth. even new, let alone as used junk to take to the pawn shop.

I would pay thousands more than what my stolen stuff was worth just to see the SOBs in jail.

It's been in effect for half a decade. And not enforced until December of this year.
I spent 3 hours last month trying I get one. Long story short, ALDOT is not prepared. I had every piece of documentation they request. They kept trying to tell me "oh you need X.." I'd whip it out... But still left without a star in my new license.

I'm just going to get a passport. I've never owned one. But it will be easier than that circus every four years. It's not as simple as a license renewal.
