There's a story behind the first 17 SSTs on this list.
I bought the 17 on eBay back in 2018. The seller posted one, I was high bidder, and in the process of buying it I asked if he happened to have others. He did. I made a deal after exchanging a few messages with Mike, the seller, and in the course of those messages I found out his father, John, had passed away a few years earlier. John was the first owner, acquiring them directly from Toyota (paying for them out of his own pocket) while working as a Toyota mechanic in the late 60's. He also worked for Mercedes, Chrysler, and Porsche. John stamped his monogram "JGH" on most of the tools inside the pouches to i.d. them as his own. Mike found the tools in the garage after John passed and made the decision to sell. Kind of felt fortunate to be the second owner. When I bought them I told Mike I wouldn't have them forever either, and that I would pass the lore onto the next owner. Call me a sap, but I feel it's important to provide the provenance for something like this. They've been in my green Toyota tool cabinet for a few years now and it's time to let them go to someone who will use them as intended, or just to collect and enjoy as I have. I've never used any of them personally.
Most are not for Land Cruiser applications. All of the tools and vinyl are in great condition. All are 100% complete with one exception: the handle for the tools in 09860-11010 was missing so I crudely modified a nail that works just fine.
