Ok, so I need some help.

In short, here is the story...
My wife & I are from Iowa, USA but currently live in the mountains in Bolivia (South America).
One year ago we bought our LC. We started doing paper work to get a license plate and found out our chassis number had been doctored or remarked... the vehicle went into the department of stolen vehicles for almost 2 months while they ran tests. We got our LC back and they eventually released to us paperwork saying that the vehicle is not stolen and that the chassis number has been remarked.

That was a headache in it's own. But now I've found that I can not order parts for it at times because we don't have the original VIN or Chassis Number.

Last weekend my left rear axle shaft snapped and the wheel came off.
Hopefully this picture shows up:

Finding parts here in this developing country isn't fun and it would be really helpful to have a chassis number

My request is that if anyone has a car like mine would they be able to PM the VIN or Chassis Number to me so that the parts stores here can look for parts for my vehicle? I will then also be able to search on ToyoDIY.

Here is the vehicle info:
1993 Toyota Land Cruiser II
4dr
Left hand drive
3.0L 1KZ-t
5spd manual transmission

From what I have found on ToyoDIY I believe the frame code is: KZJ77
The model code is either KZJ77LV-MNX (N. America) or KZJ77-MNXW (Europe)
And it gives me a partial VIN (no idea how accurate): JT1VKZJ77

If anyone could help me out I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks!

-Jesse

There is a VIN number usually on the transmission. Did the previous owners tamper with that one too? Also, the chassis code is usually stamped into the frame on the right side front if you look on the frame behind the wheel. Hard to believe someone would have modified that as well.

I've always thought the landcruiser you describe was called a KZJ78... The parts for the rear end should be the same as the Japanese Prado of the same year which is called a KZJ78. It is an 8" differential with disk brakes and coils springs.

I didn't know there was a code on the transmission... I will look for that. Although I'm guessing they found that when they ran their "tests".

At any rate...

I found a LC in a small town further up in the mountains today that looks EXACTLY like ours down to the color. Nobody was around so I wrote the chassis number down... going to look it up now. The first part of it is LJ77

Still nobody else that can help me out???

Hello Import Driver,

I found the following on mud, it may be of use to you: ToyoDIY.com. I used it to see what info i could get once i put in my VIN. I didn't try to reverse-VIN, but for whatever it's worth, there you are. Best wishes!

Cheers, 61Mk+
