Sale numbers are hardly the only factor though.

With the older GXs being cheaper, more people are willing to off road and abuse them and thus potentially a larger market for bumpers, presently. This is arguably a partial reason the 470 has more following than the 460, buy in price has more value.

Pre-facelifted GXs tend not to need a bumper just for off road clearance though, like the facelift does, so there’s a good argument for designing primarily facelift versions. Plus, as the facelift version comes down in price, the market will grow significantly, in time.

Both have several arguments for being a good platform to design bumper products for, mostly depends on company priorities; Immediate sales, long term sales, both and even their budget for R&D to handle making both.
I weighed the older model/higher mileage build and couldn't get past putting 20-25k into a build that had a 100,000 miles. But that's just me. Almost bought a 4th gen 4Runner with a hair over 100k but knew I would be putting a ton of money in a higher mileage vehicle, was a very good price, 12k.

As a previous 100 series and 80 series owner it's not uncommon at all for people to buy 100k+ (and even 200k+) mile toyotas to build out.

Yes, I know I was one that did exactly that on a Taco and stacked up 392,000 miles. I couldn’t justify selling it after putting a ton of money into it.

Looking forward to a rear bumper for a 17' ..... Wonder how many OT shifts I'll need to grab. Lol.

Sorry for my absence since I dropped the prototype photo :) it’s been crazy busy.

We have one of our engineers actively working on 10-up strike front. Hoping to make this fit all years.

The 14-up blitz has to get finished first, before we can move onto the strike. But we are so close on the strike.

Rear strike prototype has been cut, but still need to get it together and test fit.

Hopefully this month we’ll be able to release all of the front bumpers. The rear might take into early April to be ready for release.

Don’t worry though, these are top priority projects right now.

Thanks for the update! Looking forward to the final products.

Will we see the rear bumper available by years end?

Probably for good reason, most hate fender flares, myself included.

I don't know... this guy seems not to, and i think "most" would agree,

That's one of the very few I've seen and personally I think it looks terrible. This is obviously a very subjective thing but considering that very few companies offer fender flares to begin with for any vehicle suggests that they aren't very popular in general.

for me, i think it's the only thing the 460 is missing (and why I think the 470 is slightly more attractive).

Fortunately, there are probably enough of us that want them to justify making them. You're right on the button when you say it's subjective.

If there was a company willing to make the, I'd assume they'd create a poll here, and on GXOR FB (and maybe reddit)

I think they'd look better if they were smooth like the OEM 470 flares, the pocket style with the button head hardware screams 1990's Bushwacker flares lol. Start a poll and lets see what the masses say.

Not a bad idea. i'll tag you haha. about to start a deposition but i will after.

Okay, if we're talking fender flares, I agree that 95% of the flares do little for performance, performance meaning allowing a wider track and larger tires AND being able to stuff the tire in the wheel well under compression. Most are just for show or add maybe 1/2" of width. I'd rather spend the money on something more practical like MTS or CC. Some of the best and most practical fender flares that are functional are the pre-runner type for the Taco's and the ones from Fjallasport (Toyota Archives | Fjallasport Fender Flares - https://www.fjallasport.is/product-category/fender-flares/toyota/)
If you really have the need for larger tires, here you go!
35" tires:

OR 42" tires!!!

So... Who's going to be the first to put 42" tires on their GX????

And also another option, but you'll have to use a translator:
