'99 LX470, 280k miles.

I'm experiencing a vibration/shake when turning the steering wheel 50-100% and accelerating from a dead stop. It mostly happens when making a left turn through oncoming traffic. The truck is at a complete stop, traffic clears, so I turn the wheel and accelerate to get across the lanes. I've also experienced this once before when turning right. This situation just happens more often turning left.

The vibration is definitely from the drivetrain, but i can't pinpoint where it's coming from. I want to say it's coming from the rear end, but I can't be sure. It happens for maybe a half a second and then goes away when the wheel is straightened out. It's a very rapid vibration. I'd say 20 or so bangs that are sutle and only noticable to the driver. No clicking or clunking just a skip in the forward motion. The best thing i could compare it too would be like a slight misfire in the engine. A "shuttering" for lack of a better term.

I'm wondering if anyone has some insight here. I'm thinking CV axles is most likely the cause, but that wouldn't make sense with my 'feeling' that the vibration is coming from the rear end. Could also be the diff or power steering.

Diff, CVs and Power steering are all original with 280k miles on them.

Some PM service history may help get better picture! Fluid changes and lubes? Wheel bearing service? What have you inspected?

-Diff oil in front and rear diff was drained and replaced (i haven't checked the level recently, but i'm 99% sure it's good)

-Replaced right rear wheel bearing

-Tie rods replaced (OEM)

This behavior is only experienced when accelerating from a complete stop and turning at the same time (turning the wheel 50-100% to one side).

99 LX470's have a limited slip in the rear and it can be noticeable even if working right. My wife mentions it about every 2 years(owned it 12+ years), then I remind her it has a limited slip in the rear. I forget if it takes special LS lube or not.....

I'll try it tomorrow. I also have a 99 LX with LSD and replaced the diff oil last sunday.

its the way a limited slip works, they grab(like your feeling) on some slow turns depending on conditions.
