I have a 2020 Android Head Unit I bought from EC Offroad and have been running it for 5.5 years. It doesn't have a lot of memory, doesn't connect well to my phone as a Hot Spot and doesn't have Android Auto

I try and download Google Maps local to the unit for navigation and they don't stay

When I download a new map for Gaia, I generally have to delete some stuff if it is large in size. It doesnt have a lot of on-board storage.

However, it has worked great for Topo maps using Gaia on the trail, playing my music collection, making calls, watching video. All my steering wheel controls work and the HVAC all works great. I still feel it is one of the best mods I have done

I did try and download a google app that provided Android Auto. It worked OK for short trips in the city, but locked up 5 times on a long 6+ hour drive and I had to remove it as it locked the whole unit up to a black screen. Once removed, everything worked perfectly the way it did before.

I want to update the technology in my 200. Having Android Auto in my 2024 Tacoma has been awesome and that basically will keep the technology fresh for years to come

A lot of companies sell units that look the same and maybe they come from the same factory

This may be the factory for all of them
ZF-1806/1806H-for TOYOTA-ZhiFang Car Multimedia Electronics Manufacturer - https://szzhifanggps.com/?products_38/164.html

Phoenix Automotive sells one. They are the least expensive. I have had to ask the same question 3-4 times due to the Language barrior and still don't get clear answers. The majority of their team is in China and that is who responds to emails and answers the phone
Shop now [ G6 octa-core ] 16" Vertical Screen Android 11 Fast boot Navi Radio for Toyota Land Cruiser 2008 - 2015 - https://phoenixautomotiveinc.com/products/g6-octa-core-16-vertical-screen-android-9-fast-boot-navi-radio-for-toyota-land-cruiser-2008-2015?variant=42046966169786

EC Offroad sells one. It is more expensive at $1540 USD (sale) plus shipping
16inch Head Unit Head unit to suit LandCruiser 200 Series SAHARA - https://www.ecvisionsound.com/products/toyota-landcruiser-200-series-sahara-16inch-head-unit

I just found another Australian Company called Vehdia. The price when converted to USD is $1272 (Todays exchange rate) and I also found a 7% off code in one of their review videos YST7. Shipping is $85 so a total of under $1300 shipped
Head Unit Suitable for Toyota Landcruiser 200 Series 2007-2015 Sahara - VHEDIA - https://vhedia.com.au/product/head-unit-suitable-for-toyota-landcruiser-200-series-2007-2015-sahara/

Phoenix Automotive doesn't have a lot of technical information on their web site. Trouble shooting can be a chore especially with the language barrior. It does have Android 13. Their units ship from China.

EC Off Road's unit is Android 11. Their videos are all 5 years old on the older unit (Not current) and not a lot of other info out there. Unclear if it has wireless Android Auto. They said yes via email and the web site says plug in. I bought from them before because they said they customize their units to the 200 and provide support in english. They did help me work through an issue. My unit did ship directly from China.

Looking at the Vehida site, they have all kinds of videos on this newer unit on setup. They have a link to cheat sheet on set up info. I asked Vehida what makes their unit stand out

Regarding your comparison with the Zhifang unit, while the hardware may appear similar, here’s what sets Vhedia apart:
  1. Custom Firmware & Optimisation: Our software is specifically tuned for Toyota vehicles, with configurations tailored for Australian and international variants, ensuring smoother integration with factory features.
  2. Local Testing & Quality Assurance: Each unit is tested in-house to work reliably with the Toyota LandCruiser 200 Series, with adjustments made for known compatibility points.
  3. Dedicated Support & Updates: We offer responsive customer support, ongoing firmware updates, and detailed installation guides created for DIY or professional installs.
  4. Peace of Mind After-Sales Service: Unlike many offshore suppliers, Vhedia provides full warranty support and after-sales service to ensure you're well supported long after your purchase.
I watched a couple of videos and the unit boots up with a Vehida logo. It also comes with an OBD dongle and OBD app built in for reading operating data like Transmission temp

The only problem is their units are backordered with approximately 40 days left

I just have a couple of custimization questions and I will likely order this unit even though there is a backlog

I like they have the newer components and Android 13
I like all the current information in their set up videos and cheat sheet. No one else has that.
I like they test all their units in house to work with a 200 series before shipping
I like they customize the unit for the 200. Although EC Offroad says the same thing

I will document how this works in this thread, but it likely won't be for 40+ days :)

I have never heard anybody recommend one of the large tesla-like units after owning one. I have only read about bad experiences due to glitches, hvac control issues, poor sound quality, and so on. I personally wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole.

As I said in the first post, I have owned one for almost 6 years and would recommend one. I just want to upgrade to a newer unit with Android Auto and more memory. I did buy from EC Off Road for more $$ than Phoenix since they seemed more intune with Land Cruisers which is why I am looking at this company for the newer unit.

The people I know that have them, love them.

My only glitch was when I tried to use software to gain Android Auto for a version of Android that wasnt designed to do that. Otherwise, my sound was great, all HVAC controls worked and it was pretty glitch free for since March 2020.

I’ve had mine for about a year less than Romer. While it does have some annoying bugs at times, I’ve figured how to deal with them when they happen. All my steering wheel buttons and HVAC controls have always worked as well as my cameras. The large nav screen is awesome. Of course a fully integrated OEM unit like in my 2025 Tacoma is much better but not an option for my 2015.

@Romer, I’m following this. I meant to talk to you about this at COTR. At some point I’ll upgrade too. When I do, I’d like to wire the front at rear cameras differently that just reusing the OEM circuits to take advantage of better resolution capability. I’ve already replaced my rear camera with aftermarket but still use the OEM harness so I don’t get any better resolution on the screen.

Edit: I always wondered if EC off-road really did anything to the firmware that was actually custom. They did send me a couple files when I had some issues but still I don’t think their unit was fundamentally different than the Phoenix unit. It’s interesting that this other Australian company’s unit boots up with their logo. That suggests they have done something. I could never figure out a way to change the images on the boot up screen on the EC off-road unit, the only people I know who have done that used Sergey‘s firmware update for android 11. His firmware allowed the user to customize a lot of things.

Interesting when I go to the Vehida link above the price shows $2150 AUD and then if I refresh it goes to $1954 AUD. Then less the 7% coupon and plus $85 shipping, it comes to $1902.73 AUD which is $1242.81 USD based on todays exchange rate

Edit. CC shows @1245.14 pending USD

The Backorder also improved to 14 days

So I ordered mine. I wouldn't expect to see it for a month

My reciept came with the following. Much more info than I got with EC Offroad. It was more try and figure it out and let us know if you have an issue

A follow up with questions I asked. Back order is now 13 days
Please see my responses below:

1) Fahrenheit / MPH / Feet Settings
Yes, the T-Series unit does allow you to change the units for temperature to Fahrenheit, speed to MPH, and distance to Feet. These settings can be adjusted in the system or factory settings depending on the vehicle interface.

2) Internal Storage & Music App
You’ll be glad to know the unit comes with internal memory (128GB), and yes — you can load your music directly onto it and use the built-in music player, just like your current setup.

3) Camera Connection – White vs Blue Plug
If your vehicle has both blue and white connectors, connect the white plug. IF only a blue connector is present, connect the blue plug.

4) Wireless Android Auto via ZLink
Yes, the unit uses ZLink for Android Auto and CarPlay, both wireless and wired. Most Samsung phones including your S24 work well, though with wireless Android Auto, performance can occasionally vary due to signal or Bluetooth interference.

5) Pre-order vs In-Stock Purchase
Placing your order now locks your unit in from the incoming batch — these tend to sell quickly, especially for the Sahara model. If you wait until it's back in stock, there’s a risk of it selling out again before you get the chance. Your credit card will be charged at the time of purchase, but you’re fully covered under our order policy should you change your mind before dispatch.

6) Control Box from Install Video
Yes, the little control box you saw is included with the unit. It’s an essential part of the system to retain factory features like steering wheel controls, AC display, etc.

My unit shipped and was delayed in customs awaiting mnny ciontribution to the Presidents Tariff fund (No political responses), I had to pay $466 or it would get sent back to Perth. Factor that into your cost. Pretty fast shipping though :) Hopefully will have it in a few days and will document the install and how it operates compared to the older versuion I currently have.

Again, the main two reasons I am upgrading is for Android Auto and more memory. I figure with Android Auto, it becomes mostly immune to technology upgrades as long as the phone upgrades doesn't change that

It shipped Sunday from Perth (Monday in the us) and I recieved it yesterday. pretty fast shipping

It did cost a $466 traiff which DHL sent me a notification for with a link to pay. Even so, it is still cheaper than the EC Off road unit when you factor in shipping before any traiff it has.

It came packed well with great instructions

EDIT: An updated install video for the 4 camera steup with a newer unit like this one.

I had a few issues. Mostly due to mating the wrong connectors. You have to really look at the instructions and the wires that come out of the connectors they highlight.

I had several configuration changes to make the cameras work.
@re500 these may help you with your Phoenix install. I think they come from the same factory
First you have to set the year to 2016 per the attached instructions(Via the first pdf file)
Then you have to make sure the 360 view is set to close in the settings app (via the cheat sheet)
Then you have to make sure you are connected to the correct cable. It is easy to connect the one labled 360, you need the other one

I am going to try and figure out how to remove the bottom half of the screen with the message

The Home screen is great. You need to go into settings and set it to American vs metric. It booted up with chines words and celcius temp and then switched to current location in Fareneight. The big font temp seems to be the temp at boot up (I think) but in the top right in small font is the actual sensor externaal temp. This is something I didn't have in the older version

20250808_131707.webp

All the steering wheel controls work. The temp cchange buttons work. The voice button use to mute the audio, it does not on this new one so I need to look into how to program that

Android Auto works great. Although it shuts off the music from the unit. However, you can use the music app from your phone vis Android Auto. I updated the view to have the music app on the display and forgot to update the picture

Te unit does not come with an OBD app, but does come with a dongle. I did download the OBD Fusion app with the special add on for my 2014 200 series

@linuxgod what key things should I have on the dashboard? I added one engine oil temp and both Tranny temps. I may need to modify the gauge type
20250808_123225.webp

It comes with lots of apps. ESuper file didnt seem to work well, but the ES File exploer app worked great to copy all my music from a memory stick

I noticed wifi is off when starting up, easy to connect. Will look into that. I haven't set up my phone as a hot spot. The defaault Google Maps doesnt load maps unless connected via wifi, but Android Auto comes up with Google maps from my phone

The phone app copied my contacts and worked great

For the Climate, you have to press one of the buttons to change temp or set something for it to come up. Or you can use the Climate app which I moved to the home screen

Really happy with it. The unit provides much better technology then even my 2024 Tacoma comes with from the factory, although Android Auto does not shut off the onboard music app in the taco

Things to do:
Tweak the OBD fusion dashboard with key dials and see if I can make it a half screen to share with other data
See if I can get around the onboard music app shutting off when I bring Android Auto up. However, using the phone music app is a good work around since I have the same music loaded. Maybe the split screen option will do that

This video talks about using split screens. Lots of videos and help on their site

Note, under car info it doesnt read the TPMS data, but I can still see it in the normal dash window. I will look into this later. I likely can do this via OBD Fusion, but not really a need since I already have access to that

The Vhedia site talks about a navigation app you can download maps to that is almost as good as google maps. I will give that a try as well

This is my dashboard, though mine is in landscape mode, not portrait.

1. Create a free dropbox account, create a folder called Export, then put that .stg file into the folder.
2. Inside OBD Fusion, click Settings->Menu->Import Settings. You only really need to import the dashboard.

I think you have the key items though there are a few more you may want. Mine shows the gear you're actually in (not just the max you selected) and there's a green ring that will light up around it when the torque converter is locked. I also have instant MPG and altitude.

KCLV is interesting as that's how the ECU decides how much it can advance timing. I like it because it confirms when I use premium I get an extra ~4 degrees of timing advance. But it's not really needed.

The TPMS pressure data is in OBD Fusion though it's in kPa, not PSI. But it also has tire temp data which is cool!

The Airbag light came on. The instructions said it might and gave me a cable to add. I should have just installed it when everything is apart

I followed your instructions and it said it imported them, but they were not there when I connected. It won't let me import while connected. In Importing it wanted to delete or overwrite the existing dashboards which to me seemed like the same thing

So I reloaded what I had and adding the intake air

Can you tell me what limits you have set on the tranny and oil temps? It might be easier to just tweak what I have.

I will look at the other ones you mentioned. Gear sounds nice to know. Altitude might be good as well Don't think I care about tire temperature. It is what it is and not as concerned about an internal engine or tranny overheat

The engine wasn't running in this photo so values may be incorrect

I did figure out how to do split screens. Pretty easy. And Magic earth looks great so far. You can download maps for states or countries. I am starting with Colorado and will see how that goes. Forgot to take a pic while out driving yesterday

I can double check the precise values but you can probably guesstimate from the screenshot to start with.
