I thought I heard something about this a few months ago, but haven't seen anything posted.

(1) Yes, Justin's plan was approved by the board
(2) We're putting together a list of advertisers and TLCA business members to kick it off
(3) I have asked our board members to PLEASE let us know who else should be added - for example, Stevinson Toyota West in Colorado hosts Rising Sun meetings. So far we have received no submissions by board members
(4) It is in my column in Toyota Trails, and I have asked members for submissions. Any business who is helpful to TLCA members and chapters.

Justin's been pretty busy so I volunteered to build the initial database. The goal is to have the initial list ready for the next Toyota Trails deadline in a couple weeks for the Nov/Dec issue.

Is the only criteria "Any business who is helpful to TLCA members and chapters"?
If there are other criteria, it might be nice to know what it is/they are, and who decides whether those criteria are met.

Would this new list be more inclusive, less inclusive, or the same as the current Associate Member list?

Does this new list add an extra 'layer' of preference that listing in the current directory does not?

If so, would it possibly make more sense for a current Associate member to drop their membership and follow only the requirements needed to gain entry to the new list?

I am sorry, I just don't understand where this is going.

I believe all of your questions are answered in the written proposal that MSVP Justin Ward presented, and was approved by the TLCA BOD. There are written, specific criteria, which are to be applied as fairly and uniformly as possible. I do not have a copy in front of me at the moment, however I will try to explain in summary form:

There is no such thing as "Associate Membership", that term was changed to "Business Member" a couple years ago. It is not required, however it is among the criteria for the rating system. Another criteria is being an advertiser in Toyota Trails. Donating raffle prizes to events is another one. Another criteria is not having any outstanding customer complaints that have not been resolved to the satisfaction of TLCA's BOD. Giving a discount to TLCA members is a good one for a number of dealerships. The more a business does for TLCA members, chapters and events, the higher they are rated. IOW, if a business is a TLCA business member, advertises in Toyota Trails and also donates raffle prizes, they would be rated higher than a dealership who only gives a discount on parts to TLCA members.

Mark's Off Road is on the list I sent to Todd for publication by virtue of being a business member and a raffle donor. There are currently 61 businesses on the list, categorized by what they do to help.

Thanks and happy cruisin'!
