Vehicles you wish you still had....

I used to be into sports cars, and sorta miss having one around. Loved these two cars to death and wish I still had 'em. Classic Toyota's now.

The AE86 is where my 'GTSSportCoupe' handle came from. Was on forums back in the late 90's even. Man, the time I've wasted....LOL.

Had the AW11 next. It was better than the AE86 in almost every regard (performance wise). But only having two seats meant it had to go. (And make room for a more practical landcruiser).

Well, top of the list for me, is my old 70. Last seen for sale in the states for too much money with half the mileage on the clock.

Had it for 6 or 7 years, bought an 81, couldn't afford to keep both and after 2 months hated the 81, boring as hell.




Then, the old crackwhore. These were it's main 4 stages of incubation over 10 or 12 years. Not entirely sure I wish I still had it, seems to be doing alright in the interior.


My first cruiser, and funnily enough, my current green 40 series has it's vin tags.

Hence CW 2.0, it survived living in a drawer for a decade

Honerably mention might go to the 95 vw passat tdi I had.

Record mileage was 61mpg, there's times I'm tempted to get a jetta for a commuter, but I don't know if I could put myself through that vw bs again. They're such a pain in the ass.

My dad would probably put the 1960 356B Porsche he sold in the late 80's on this list. I shudder to think what that'd be worth now... 6 figures and then some.

That's a dang fine collection of cruisers! (Incarnations in the case of the CW 1) I do wish I'd got into cruisers earlier than I did.

I for one thank the great juju on the mountain daily that many things in the nineties didn't happen because there's no pictures...


I did a deep dive but I couldn't find a pic of the porsche, or my old bug for that matter. Might be one in a box in the parents basement, but that may as well be mars at the moment.

For now, a different kindof vehicle, but I still miss the old girl.

That's us just before we rolled over that wanker in the big C&C in front of us.

Probably one of my last pics before I sold it. Actually lived aboard this for 5 years or so, not that my PHRF rating got any kind of a break for that.

Sold it to a french couple who were going to sail it back to france, but a few years later I heard it sold really cheap ( like, dammit I'd have bought it back kinda cheap) in silva bay.

Boat would have handled the trip fine, but I'm guessing the relationship didn't survive the "small boat test"

I will look for pictures later, but my first ride with a 1977 KH 400 tripple two stroke street bike which handled like complete crap but went fast in a strait line. Before that bike I was 14 and purchased a 1943 Willies jeep that I drove off the property into the back hills, plans to restore it that never happend. 1986 Celica gts 2 years old, 1987 rx7 might of been the most fun to drive and race.

Later I purchased a fairly new 1988 toyota truck,which was stolen in Vancouver and recovered trashed. When the kids were little tikes me and Cathy purchased a 1 owner hj60 1987 no rust on frame or body all original, had that for 8 or 9 years, factory working AC and 100 k on the clock. I have pictures of that truck and my first BJ42 when my son was 1 year old.

Well, blowing by a WestJet at FL430 used to be fun. I do miss this one. BTW, despite an unseeming
inability to realize there was a world BC and despite lack of photographic proof, yes, things did in fact happen in the past.

Ha, I had an 85 Celica GTS for all of 2 weeks. Bought it off an absolutely stunning blonde...was all I could do to speak let alone haggle.

Two weeks later, the parking lot it was in flooded with a storm surge on top of a big tide. Seawater up to the steering wheel.

I climbed in through the rear hatch foolishly hoping it wouldn't be full of water (it was) popped the ebrake and pulled it out of the water. Garbage bag on the seat and drove it to work. Went up at lunch to hose it out with fresh water and it was full on chernobyl meltdown under the hood.

Then began a months long argument with icbc that purchase price had nothing to do with what I could sell it for. Ended up getting 500 bucks more than I paid for it

Worst part was going to the wrecker and buying the rims and tires off it for the supra I replaced it with....

With the Christmas tree run and the NewYears Day run coming up I wish I still had the 40. We had a lot of fun and met some real nice people on our Cruiser runs.

My first car was a hand-me-down from father->Mother->Older Brother->3 Older Sisters->Me so it was a high miler, and blew a bearing second time out. Spent most of my 16th and 17th years fixing the d*** thing ... looked cool though It was a 1957 MGA almost identical to the photo ...

From 20 feet mine was a dead ringer for this one. 2” exhaust with one wide sweeping bend a free flowing muffler. Balanced 2.0 L, l6, dual carb... 125 hp at 4500 rpm +/-... peak torque at about 3000 rpm. 2000 lbs just high enough off the ground to clear the speed bumps. I miss the snarl it made when with a downshift into 3rd while mashing the skinny pedal.

And... Funduro... killed by a VW driver... fortunately I cartwheeled like a rag doll while it flipped end over end.

650 single, 48 hp, 400ish lbs, dual carbs...

Me and Jay had this conversation the other day, he kind of regrets parting out his long time fj40 especially when one drives by. I had to currently put the bj42 on the road after two year lay off, still puts a smile on my face. But with this rain and foggy windows it makes me miss the 81 series.

In an odd sort of way, I actually miss this car too. Maybe more for the good times I had with it than the car it's self. Was a good little 4x4 for what it was. Camping on the Nitnat here....

Ha, now if you REALLY want to be horrified...one of those is what my dad traded one of these for. Not the actual car, but pretty close. Even the factory sunroof. Could actually be the car I guess, who knows. It was mint. Body had been dipped and painted before he got it.

In his defense , it was 1988 and he got the porsche in trade for a truck and camper he couldn't sell ( 460 ford pig)

Seeing those british cars reminds me, my uncle had an Austin Healy way back when. We stored it in the barn for a year while he went sailing. Dimly remember him taking me for a burn in it when he got back and it actually started.
Don't think he regretted selling that for a second.

The Gt6 was energized by an Fj40 Alternator. 50ish amp Toyota vs 25 amp Lucas... no comparison... and a cure for 90% of the electrical problems.

This car was our daily driver for about 15 years and we took it on roads we had no business going on. Because Joseph Lucas(the prince of darkness) had his hands on it we were always McGyvering to keep it running. If you went through a puddle it would quit and quick wipe of the inside of the dist cap would get it running again. It would also stop running for no apparent reason and we would leap out at an intersection, lift the boot and smack the fuel pump with a tire iron til it click,clicked and away we would go again. When it finally rusted out I traded it for some fishing gear and the wife has never let me forget that. Driving these new cars is so boring compared to this our 1961 Riley 1.5 duel carb 4 speed. The pic is the identical car except our was LHD.
