Try your other key fob if you have a second one. Or hold the key fob close to the starter button.

The first or second thing I did (see original post) was changed both of our key fob batteries. I am aware of the key fob hack to put it close to or on the starter button, I do believe this worked unsuccessfully during one of the failed start attempts.

Great idea. I interpret the emergency starter function as a tool to rule in the fact that it the problem is isolated to the immobilized system. At this time the vehicle is starting, I will try the emergency start immediately the next time it does not start.
