I am shipping my truck from Charleston SC to Decatur GA (Atlanta). I have been looking at the Uship options, but they are kind of sketchy. No good reviews. Anyone know anyone that is in the area?

I have used uShip, and it was great. Shipped from California to oklahoma,
Was very reasonably priced. And showed up within 30 min from when they projected to be there.
I was very happy

Good luck

Based on @scottryana 's experience :frown: make sure you have copies of their insurance and take lots of photos before and after

That's Not too far. Hire a friend to drive it down and fly back, or bus/ train back?

I want to go get it but my work schedule just won’t let me do it at that time. I would have to store it for a week.

Thanks tplane2. I will check them out.

Currently looking at UShip myself to get one from Tx to Ga. ~100 more than flying out and towing back. Worth the extra 100 in my opinion if estimate stays the same.

Yeah, I am really distrustful of Uship. But with no good personal reason. I was reading complaints and reviews of the shippers online and it did not make me feel really confident. They don't seem to follow a reliable schedule. So I might have to have the truck stored at port for a long time before they finally get around to picking it up. Then it could end up at your place in TX before getting here to GA. Whatever is most efficient. Not part of any agreed deal as far as I can tell. But at the same time, there are plenty of people that have had good experiences. But those seem to be less than 50%. I know there are more people that post bad reviews too though. My biggest worry is having someone to rely on at port. That has to be a clusterf***k. As much as I cannot really afford to take the time to pick it up, I might feel a lot better doing it myself. I wish I could find or filter the search on Uship to private owners. All I get is brokers that farm out the shipping to whoever.

Where at in GA?

I used Uship many years ago to ship a Unimog from CA to OR and it was great. Just a Mom and Pop outfit. I am currently trying to get an FJ40 from OR to GA. Tried Uship again, but it's not the same as it used to be. Seems like now it's just brokers, before it seemed like actual drivers so you cut out the middle man and saved a few bucks. I'm currently working with Aaron at Summit to get it here. He seems reasonable and has good reviews here on MUD.

I am in Decatur 30033. Yeah. So far I have not had an offer from an actual shipper. Or at least individual carrier.

Appreciate the referral fellas!
Beno is right, Uship sucks ballz. The trouble isn't that you are dealing with a broker, the trouble is they are all bidding against each other and don't know what they are doing. Plus, you end up paying Uship a broker fee for sitting back and watching the sh*tshow. I will say that if you are savvy enough to weed through the boiler room brokers you can possibly find an experienced driver that takes care of you. You will need to know if the port facility requires the driver to carry a TWIC card. Otherwise, you can pay for a TWIC escort for the carrier. I'll respond to your message and we can chat.

Just saw your text. I will get back to you tomorrow. Thanks a lot.
