Wanted Vehicle for son in San Francisco

Hi. I am looking to buy a vehcile for my college age son in San Francisco. I need something that is a daily driver, that he can use for camping, skiing and going to school once in awhile. I'm thinking a 4runner or 100 or 80 series. I need it to be $10k or less. Thanks, JMP
