I just found this one on eBay, but it's non-sub tank. Obviously, we need a specific model number. And I already
know that "All Four X 4 Dismantling" in Australia will not ship overseas. I already asked them about a rear seat and they will not ship contrary to another members experience.

Try using Aramex Shop & Ship, if that’s a thing for you? I use it extensively here as it helps vendors ship only locally (within their country).

I wonder if there are any issues with the aus cluster coming out of RHD dash or whether they’re interchangable with a LHD cluster?

Just about every country listed except JAPAN. Otherwise I would give it a try.

I wouldn't think so. Otherwise Toyota would have to have tooling for both sides and having worked at Boeing I know that tooling is very expensive and in this case doesn't seem necessary since all of the gauges have the speed indicated on the right-hand side.

So AllFourx4 have some instrument clusters. Seems only one with Sub (and ABS) which may be worth a shout.

Anyone know if you can swap out the digital gauges for mileage readings, or if you're stuck with the new instrument cluster mileage? Not looking to ring anything, but still want an accurate milage reading for warranty and service records.

I'm not sure on that. Still shocked that they sell the diesels without TACH. You'd think they would do it with the gas variant. At 120 km/h I'm sitting at 2500 RPM with the 235/95R16 stock tires. Need to swap the trans out for the H152 and increase tire size.

So I took the original dash apart and I found the triggers for DIFF LOCK. It's ground trigger. So I'll need to add relay and get my ARB Locker hooked up. On the factory switch.

If anyone is interested, I'll get pics of the terminal side when it's ready to go in.

G'day mate,

Digging this one up from a while ago, did you end up wiring up the lockers to dash lights? I'd be interested to see how you did it (I'm planning on doing the same)?

Thanks.

Goexplore:

I talked to my dealer here in Japan and he can order one direct from the factory and have it shipped to me. If I had known that I would not have ordered other parts from PartsouQ. We both believe that 83800-6BD52 is the correct number. It's going to cost me about 50,000 yen (about $500 USD) but I'm going to give it a try. It's a lot of money, but I'm really tired of driving without a tachometer. I'm going to order one on the 10th (payday) and if it works, I'll post immediately. It shouldn't take more than a week to get it.

I did! About to do two more. I'll see if I can get you some pics to help you out.

hi Luai,

would love to know if it’s plug and play or if there’s additional wiring needed?

maybe one the lockdown is over and the borders have reopened I should make the short 12 hour drive and pay you guys a visit.

You're most welcome!

The cluster swap was straight forward. The trigger for lockers was not.

I ended up using the factory switch with a relay and a compressor switch. If the lockers are ( switched on) but the compressor is on the (off position) everything will remain off and the lights will not illuminate in the dash. When the compressor is on the (on position), lockers engage and the lights light up.

It could be wired in anyway you like really. It wasn't hard to do and I think the light in the dash takes 12V. You could wire it anyway you like of course. But I liked that the compressor switch acts as a conformation that the lockers are engaged/attempting to engage.

I'll check on Sunday when i'm back at work.

Thanks Luai,
It was the cluster I was referring to. I’m going with OEM lockers in the Troopy eventually.

Now I just need to find the correct cluster for the Troopy with twin tanks and work out what I do about the mileage.

Hi everyone, just new to the forum and I was excited to see there’s already hopefully a solution to the tachometer issue (makes zero sense to me either…no tach on a diesel). I have a 2022 V8 79 Gulf Spec/Costa Rica and you can’t get the vehicle through the dealer with the tachometer gauge cluster :-( My question is did the 83800-6BT20 Meter ASSY plug n play perfectly? The vehicle has factory lockers. I’m just wondering if there’s any other parts that might be required? I’ve attached the photo that Lo2ay had posted for reference as I’ve found suppliers with the part in stock. The vehicle is brand new so I want to do the swamp before it leaves the dealership.

Thank you for the reply, I contacted the dealer with the part number Lo2ay had posted and they verified and said no problem they could get the parts and install as the vehicle is brand new and not actually delivered yet. $1000 usd installed :-) ( ps….should still be a stock option.).

Hi all,

Funny how i'm back here looking for part numbers again. I just picked up a VDJ78 and we are now back at the same problem. No tach!

did any of the troopy folks figure out tach and dual fuel? LHD vs RHD clusters? are they interchangeable?

If you have dual fuel and need tach. This is your cluster part number. Compatible LHD and RHD.

83800-6BD52

Just make sure your original cluster has 3 plugs on the back to match the part number above.

I installed it on my 23 VDJ78 and it works.

Hey guys

Thank you very much for the helpful informations provided here.

I have found out, that the cluster for the petrol (GRJ) is available on Partsouq but not the one for the V8 Diesel (VDJ) anyone knows if the petrol one are compatible with the V8 cars?

Thanks

If I’m not mistaken, the VDJ tach will redline at 4500 RPM. Is that the case with the petrol version?

I used a VDJ cluster (2 plug, early) for 12 months on a HZJ style truck (running 1hdt) and could not get the tach to work.
You must determine if you have early (2010-2016) two plug cluster or later 2016-2024 three plug and if you have single fuel tank or twin tanks.

I found the gas, late, twin tank version 83800 6BD81

The VDJ's cluster can be found used in Australia and most if not all have tachs.
