@Locked79 @c2dfj45

Thanks for all the pictures.

I tried the gas version of the gauges and although it did plug in. It had all sorts of weird blinking issues. Obviously these two vehicle variants are wired differently but I had it, and wanted to give it a try.

I did manage to special order the gauges through the dealership. I have 6BT10 and 6BT20 inbound. One of them should be dual fuel and both should have tach. the part number ending in 00 (what I have) no dual fuel and no tach.

Would be interesting to see if the Australian gauges would work in a GCC or other market vehicles.

It still blows my mind how Toyota would ship out trucks without tach in today's market. That should be standard equipment. Especially on a diesel.

@Gun Runner 5 From what I gathered, you could have dual fuel and no tach. You could have tach and dual fuel.

If I'm understanding correctly you can either have a tach or a dual fuel indicator but not both?

Dual fuel and tach on my 2012 VDJ79

Watching this with interest. I've got to admit, my local Toyota dealer in Dubai (Al Futtaim Motors) has been incredibly helpful recently, especially considering they don't sell the VDJ78 and I went to a competitor over the border to buy mine.

I've recently got the full Jerry Can system for the back door from them, plus they're helping me bring all the parts in for factory lockers.

Let me know which part number ends up correct with Tacho and dual tank gauges and I'll pay them another visit.

2 questions; roughly how much are the gauges come in at for you, and I'm guessing the mileage resets to 0km when you change, or can they be programmed to the correct mileage?

This is where we are with the tachs. Unfortunately I couldn't order the 6BT20 the dealer came back requesting a VIN to get it going.

From the sounds of it, it looks like Toyota doesn't stock these. They might be order to build type of deal.

Anyway, I'm waiting for the 6BT10 to show up. It shows (high grade) I'm hoping that means (with tach.)

@goexplore I'm really note sure how much it costs yet. I just had them order it. The parts guy said they would range between 900 to 1400 USD depending on part number.

Not sure if the ODO will be retained or will go to 0. My truck has 400kms on it.

Thought I'd post an update to this post.

I got the new gauge and got it swapped. Everything is plug and play for the most part. Took 5 minutes to swap.

Everything is working except oil pressure. I'm assuming it's missing the sensor or plug. But I have a feeling it's just missing the sensor for oil pressure.

I'm going to re-wire the DIFF LOCK lights in the gauges to work with my ARB lockers.

Anyone know where I could find Electric diagrams for the VDJ7X series?

I assume the newer clusters are shaped totally different from the 1HZ powered Ute's and are therefore not interchangeable?

I'm not sure on that. Still shocked that they sell the diesels without TACH. You'd think they would do it with the gas variant. At 120 km/h I'm sitting at 2500 RPM with the 235/95R16 stock tires. Need to swap the trans out for the H152 and increase tire size.

So I took the original dash apart and I found the triggers for DIFF LOCK. It's ground trigger. So I'll need to add relay and get my ARB Locker hooked up. On the factory switch.

If anyone is interested, I'll get pics of the terminal side when it's ready to go in.

Got the Oil "switch" swapped for the oil "sensor" and hooked up the wire. It's the same plug to swap.

I'm having problems with oil pressure gauge functioning properly. Looks to hold no pressure when I start the engine. After revving it starts to move. But If I let it idle, it would go back to what looks like 0 reading. Not sure if they all do this or not.

If you have a VDJ7x with oil pressure gauge. Please report how it behaves.

I think I may have received a bad sensor.

This is what mine is reading on the highway.

Thoughts on this?

Watching with interest. My truck is the same as GOEXPLORE‘s and I have dual tanks and diff-lock. A tach is high on my list of things that I want to change. Very odd that it’s not standard on our particular model. If you get this figured out let me know.

I’m really keen to do this. Not high on my list of priorities due to $$$ involved, but still want a tacho, and don’t want to add an extra display on to the dash.

Will try messaging some of the Australian owners to see if they can check scrap yards for me.

That's exactly why I would rather go with the original from Toyota. When I was ordering my truck the dealer was installing an after-market on top of the dash. It was at that time that I realized our model didn't have a tach. It wasn't a deal breaker, but I was not happy. In 2014 I purchased one of the first BMW R1200GSAs in Japan after doing a lot of research. I was not happy when I got home and found out that the TPS was shut off and could not be turned on by me or a dealership. Apparently it's not allowed in Japan.

I just found this one on eBay, but it's non-sub tank. Obviously, we need a specific model number. And I already
know that "All Four X 4 Dismantling" in Australia will not ship overseas. I already asked them about a rear seat and they will not ship contrary to another members experience.
