In the midst of rebuilding a head for my engine, I noticed my old valve seals were brittle, hard, and some cracked. I ordered a new set from napa, hoping they would be good. I ordered these by fel-pro, http://partimages2.genpt.com/partimages/612110.jpg
Turns out they are the metal type. I'm not sure on how to put them on; they don't slip over the valve guides. A mechanic friend mentioned they may be the type that must be pressed on to seal.
Any thoughts on my next course of action? Have them pressed, or order up some oem type composites?

Seems to be a tight fit...
I bet I could tap them on by fitting an appropriate sized socket over them

Okay, so I finally got some time and some new seals, the fel-pro ones just weren't cutting it. I went for the $or large steel type, somewhere on here i've heard they work. Does anyone know how to put them in? They still don't fit over the guides...

put them in the oven or warm water to expand them and put the head in the freezer, well if you got an empty freezer with no shelves i guess.
