I have searched everywhere and I cannot find valve seats for a 2F engine.

I have found Toyota part numbers:

11131-68010 intake valve
11135-68010 exhaust valve

I also have a separate set of Toyota part numbers that are supposedly for valve seats:

1113161010 intake valve
11131560010 exhaust valve

I have found SBI part numbers. It seems they’re the only company that has made aftermarket valve seats.

SBI part numbers:
SB1625-58 exhaust valve
SB1937-51 intake valve

I’m pretty sure JT Outfitters is selling SBI valve seats. I bought a set but of course they aren’t shipping. I knew better. But I cannot find any other vendor anywhere that said they have them in stock.

I guess the next step is to reach out to SBI and find out if they are still in production.

I seem to recall a company called Qualcast in Nashville making valve seats for the 2F. SBI is located in Nashville too. I wonder if Qualcast is the foundry making the parts.

It is very obvious to me that some of you out there have experience replacing valve seats in a 2F engine otherwise the parts would be all over the place. So, who among us has installed valve seats in a Toyota 2F and where the f*** did you get them? 🤣

I was thinking Jim C had a list posted in the 40 tech section

I was wondering if I would have better luck in the 40’s section.

This is something the machine shop sources when the cylinder head is taken in for rebuild.
All my valve seats got replaced, but the machine shop figured it all out. I didn’t need to procure parts.

@cps432 I’d also suggest a machine shop that has some familiarity with 2Fs. Of course they want your machine work business but maybe they’d just get the parts for you, even if that means a little markup.

I’m sure I can have a machine shop source the parts but what I really want to know is where are they sourcing the parts? I have dimensions for each seat including the press fit diameter. I’ve gone through catalogs for cylinder head supply companies and parts sources etc etc and I can find them in the catalog but nothing available for sale anywhere. I’ve even looked at specific measurements for separate part numbers to see if anything fits but isn’t listed in the interchange. I also have part numbers for all the interchange brands.

It’s so odd that we are able to find all the other cylinder head parts online but not a single valve seat. I must be looking in the wrong place. Have we come to the end of the road for replacement valve seat inserts?

I think there are exhaust valves floating around out there, but intake valves seem to be unobtanium. So weird.

I'm thinking Jim C talks about using Chevy valves and seats in this thread:

It seems that using larger valves is going to require an adjustment to the cam along with some other things. That will likely detract from the low end torque and I don’t really want to do that. It might feel a little nicer on the highway.

I went with Chevy SB valves for my recent rebuild. This is a known and tested update which has several technical advantages over the stock valves.
1. Stainless valve material yielding better heat management.
2. Slightly larger size which increases flow.
3. Readily available!

I've got ~400 miles now on my new engine and there is a nice difference in performance from 2.5-3.5k rpms. The engine feels like it is breathing much easier and as a result has more response to throttle input.

Did you install a stock cam? Does it lose low end torque but gain some top end? Everything I have for the engine is OEM at this point except the valve guides. They’re SBI and if I can get some SBI seats I’ll be happy to put it back together with stock specs. If push comes to shove I guess I’ll have someone install Chevy parts in the head.

I’m waiting to hear back from a guy…. He might have a connection on the SBI parts. For dirt cheap.

Yes, I have a stock cam. Engine characteristics remained the same in regards to torque, maybe even a little more. Carbon steel valves are an option for a factory correct rebuild but really lose appeal for a truck which will be used heavily.

Just got off the phone with Ron’s Precision Machine. Good guy! Had 7 of the 12 seats I need in stock and found the rest of them through SBI and is having them shipped straight from SBI to my door.

Once I found the parts in his catalog and emailed him he replied in ten minutes. I called him today and he went ahead and ordered the parts he’s lacking and is shipping what he has in stock to me now. SBI will drop the remainder of the seats at my door next week.

What a joy it is to have someone pick up the phone and actually speak to you like they care.

I CANNOT say that for Joe of JTOuttfitters. What a joke. I called him today to ask where my order is and he played like my phone was breaking up. I removed the phone from my case thinking maybe it is causing distortion. No. The asshat blocked my number and won’t respond to me now.

That’s the SECOND time he’s hung up on me after I called him asking where my parts are. I never received my fluid heat riser kit or my refund. I’ll be reporting him this time.

Okay rant over. Should have done that in the bad sellers forum, but alas, now you all know who NOT to buy valve seats from.

I’ll follow up with pictures when I receive the parts from Ron. Here’s his site:

It’s strange that some old land cruiser shops are really horrible. Have no honor or scruples. It’s like they’re pirates. I’ve heard similar stories about other LC vendors. These old cars must attract them. Glad the other shop came through.

The machine shop I used in SLC, UT had to get valve seats from several different places. Some were a few $ others were OMFG!

Apparently exhaust valve seats are still available through Toyota at around $30-$40 each!

I got all 12 from Ron for a little over $100 including shipping from two different locations.

I understand we all have our bad days and even get ourselves into ruts. Sometimes we fall short of what we should be capable of. But to hang up on someone and pretend their phone is broken is tantamount to “nanna nanna boo boo” with your thumbs in your ears. Or dare is say “I fart in your general direction” or perhaps “I bite my thumb at thee”?
