Valve noise for dummies (2 Viewers)

Noticed an odd noise after changing valve covers. I picked up a used one for the turbo project. I cleaned it up and did what I had to do and installed it. I noticed an odd valve noise that sounded like tapping and screeching. I pulled it out and noticed I forgot to push the metal baffle tab back in place. The cam shaft was rubbing against it. Fortunately it wasn’t on the cam lobe. I’m hoping the filter caught the debris.

No, I actually couldn’t see any wear on it. I’m assuming the camshaft is really hard.

FWIW the updated valve cover has redesigned ports of the oil baffle box, no more tabs sticking down
