Hi folks. While I have not been a poster, I have been an occasional reader of the forum, which is very informative.

My wife drives a 2000 Lexus LX470 with approximately 71k miles on it and we are considering selling it. It is black with tan interior. It has been garage kept and while it shows some signs of use (a few scratches here and there), it is overall in good shape. She has owned it since 2003. Given the low miles, it is difficult to put a value on the vehicle.

Can someone here let me know what kind of sale price we can expect to get in a private party transaction?

Thank you for your help.

If it helps at all, I paid $12,800 for my 2000 LX with 114k last december.

I paid $12,000 for mine about a year ago.

Probably not much. Just send it to me and I will take good care of it!

Your location will have some influence on price. Vehicles in areas that rust heavily command a lower value.

Maintenance is another factor. Has she had the timing belt & water pump done? Any fluids changed? Records showing regular PM will help values.

Funny!

The vehicle is located in Louisiana. It has been garage kept so it does not have a significant amount of rust on it. It only has 71k miles on it.

We have had recommended maintenance performed, but I am not 100% sure about the timing belt. The water pump is factory.

It was originally purchased in SW Florida and had less than 10k miles on the clock when we bought it.

Thank you guys for the help.

Where did it live before you bought it?
Illinois. I was worried about rust, but shockingly there is very little to be found. Only real rust is in a couple spots in the front, and the rear crossmember (which will be cut for future bumper).

Let us know what you want for it if you sell it. I'm looking for a well maintained LX in that year range.
Everything's for sale at the right price ;)

Last month, I paid $7,000 (seller was asking for $9,900) for my 2000 LX with 207K miles, in excellent mechanical/cosmetic condition, with ALL maintenance records from a Lexus dealer, and spent its whole life in Atlanta, GA (no rust). I looked at a lot of overpriced LC/LX's for sale before I found this one. Many in the 1999-2003 year range were asking $12,000-$15,000, which I thought was ridiculous, since many of them were not well maintained. Your low miles will show added value on KBB/NADA, but it's not necessarily an advantage for LC/LXs, since a major service is due at 90K. There's a 2000 LX in Atlanta Craigslist with 96K miles, asking $14,000 - photos show it to be in near mint condition. My guess is that seller will end up getting around $8,000-$10,000, depending on its maintenance records and mechanical condition.

I feel very comfortable with the price I paid for mine. The miles are low and it shows it. Great paint, well maintained, and near perfect interior. I don't care what anyone says, I'll take a truck with 114k over 207k any day as long as it's been properly maintained. I congratulate you on that purchase though, thats a steal.

I purchased a 2002 LX470 in Nov 2014 with 58K miles from the original owner. I live in Phoenix, AZ and the truck has been in AZ since new. I paid 15,200 and put approx $2000 into it to replace torn cv boots, front AHC shocks, water pump and timing belt, etc. I basically did a 90K service on it due to the age of the vehicle and not the mileage. Your pricing at 12k seems reasonable and there will be someone who values a low mileage vehicle enough to pay it. We love the truck and my wife doesn't want to drive anything else.

Black Betty,

Looks like a really nice truck, and $12K seems like a reasonable price point. Although I'm not in the market, since I just bought a 2000 LX myself, I would suggest helping out potential buyers, and providing the VIN on your listing, or unmask it on your service records. Interested buyers will need the VIN to pull a service record history on drivers.lexus.com, CarFax, or similar sites.

Thanks! I'm just about to post the door tag which includes the vin!
