I have a VAIS in my 07' LX. Install was about 30 min, the unit tucks in on the side of the air vent in the center stack, and you can run a charging cable from it to charge your phone if you want.

It picks up bluetooth from my Samsung phone every time, and the it displays the song on the Nav screen. All steering controls also work to control the phone, volume, track etc.

Essentially the VAIS has been flawless for me.

What model did you install? I'm looking at the SL3B-T and the MML-T1 but don't know which is better for longevity and tech advancement. The factory BT works fine (enough) and all I really want is the best product to play music/stream/charge via USB.

Anyone else desire the same thing and/or experience problems with outdated software integration with VAIS? If I go SL3B-T, will I need to update anything as time goes on?

Here you go . I think the L signifies it for the LX, I know there is a difference in the wiring harness between the LC and LX

Is there any BT drop or sound quality distortion? Also, can you use this system as a plug and play (iPhone/android/USB flash, etc.) while charging or does it ONLY charge when plugged in and uses strictly the BT to play your music device? Lastly, have you had any interference between BT/music while navigation is on? (not that I use NAV)

The BT sound quality is great IMO, on par with my wife's BT in her Lexus sedan. No distortion.

The VAIS plays music through a BT interface only, there's no plug and play option to play music. You can charge your device through the VAIS with a standard UBS cord that you provide.

I've never noticed any interference issues with Nav. or anything else...

The VAIS is tucked on the left side of that left vent. I snaked a charging cable from the VAIS, through the back of center stack, and out the tape deck opening, the charging cable is very neat and discrete.

I'd recommend getting some trim tools like this to pry open the center stack

So I installed the VAIS MML and everything was working fine until all of a sudden everything got very distorted. I was using an iPad, just music, and even after resetting the iPad it continued. I shut off the vehicle and restarted and the sound persisted. I turned everything off and turned back on and the sound persisted. I finally got home and just figured I needed a new unit but when I started it up the next day everything was fine.

Now I am wondering if this is going to be a common occurrence.

Any further issues @Dparo ? I'm weighing my options for our newly purchased '07 LX470.

Another happy USA Spe BT45TOY user here. The pin setting is vague but MUD had the answer of course.

Bluetooth Spotify is crystal clear and call quality is great.

The only things that I miss are the volume level readout when you change it, and the display doesnt say what song. Overalls still happy considering we're nursing along old technology.

I haven't tried Spotify yet, but on Google and Amazon Music the artist and song is displayed by pushing the title button in the CD screen display.

Thanks for the tip! I may play with that tomorrow!

Confirmed! Track is displayed!

You da man!

Does either - Grom or Vais - integrate the phone (iPhone) to allow Waze and other apps on the 100's touch screen?

I have the old (6 or 7 years old) Vais system and it's pretty flawed... time for an upgrade

I ordered the VAIS MML-T1.

I'm trying to track one of these down. They still show up on web sites, but VAIS discontinued it and it turns out most of the retailers ship it from VAIS rather than keep them in stock, so they don't seem to available anywhere.

I always plug the phone in anyway for power, so wanted the MML-T1 for the slightly better (theoretical) audio quality. Going to try and track one down for a little while longer before going for the bluetooth version.
