It was NOT my lucky day at the PnP...
There was a 60 series there that was basically picked CLEAN, but I did manage to find the elusive washer cap that Ive been hap hazzardly looking for. Mines been missing since Ive owned the rig, so I considered that a GREAT find.
As far as the 203...quite honestly...I donno WHAT THE HELL IM LOOKING AT!:eek::p
I dug around under a couple rigs that fit the bill we were talking about, but I didnt want to make any hasty moves, spend all day pulling something and run the risk of pissing off the wife and have it be the wrong unit. Ya know.

Did you end up going? Darcie mentioned something about you two heading out.

Sorry to hear that. Sometimes the Carson City PNP has a much better selection. Their vehicles don't seem to be picked over quite as bad.

Here is a quick guide that I located. I will look around to see if I can find one with better pics.

Right after I finished the above post, I googled NP203 and found the link you poted...
Sure enough, I was looking right at, at least TWO of them, and one of them was half way out!
I found a guy on CL who was trying to sell one from a 75 blazer for a 100 bucks...For some reason, everytime I try to contact folks from CL, I never get a response...I donno what that is all about.
BTW, I WAS at the carson PnP...their stock was DECIMATED!

What do you think about this? He wants 250.00 for a 5.7 complete with a dead cylinder?
A rebuild kit form Summit is around 400.00. Is it worth re building, or should I keep looking?
What OTHER cost should I consider in doing an engine rebuild?
My dad and I did a rebuild LOOOONG ago, so I dont really remember all the details.

Price sounds good, but I would be concerned about whether the block is damaged beyond repair. Also you might want to call a few machine shops and find out how much they charge to do a rebuild, both on a short block (lower end) and long block (lower end and heads).

Its from a mid 70's chevy 4x4.
I picked it up today before work!
That s a HEAVY bastard.

Nice, I seriously considered doing the 203 because it is a tough crawl box. The toybox install is not going that well, it is taking more time than I thought it would down at Marlin's shop. Anyone from BBCNN doing Rubithon?

Congrats. That is the way to get it and it sounds like a good deal.

They are pretty much the heaviest t-case used in anything 1-ton and less. Once you pull the rear portion off then it won't be so bad. The rear half has the chain and differential in it so that is a huge part of the weight, not to mention the case itself.

I started to do it, but putting the toybox behind the h55f proved to be tougher than I thought. I contacted Marlin and worked out a deal for him to put it together for me. He hooked it up!!! It turns out that there were still things that needed to be tweaked in the design phase and it wasn't 100% correct. It is all good now, and I am rushing to get it installed before Rubithon. . .

Dude I have been staring at my transmission-less and transfercase-less 60 for far to long. It is going to be difficult to get it finished before the Rubithon, but this semester is finally over so I will have some time to throw at it. I still need to build a cross member, build twin sticks, redo drivelines, and clearance the front crossmember, blah blah blah. How is the V8 hunting going?

I was of the impression that you were closer to the end and the tranny was installed and all that was left was the toy box install...
Im waiting to hear back on a 5.3 vortec...its a steal, but someone else called first, so he has first dibs and is going to check it out tonight.
Its got 20K on it and the guy wants 700 for it and its complete minus the wiring and ECU....I was BUMMED when he said there was someone ahead of me in line, so Im not keeping my hopes up.
