I think the info has been great. On a previous vehicle with turbo and a drive by wire throttle I was able to purchase electronic upgrades that led to incredible gains in HP & torque. Electronic mods are exciting. Plug and play.

Until reading about Christo's hacking on the LX470 I didn't really have much interest in anything but an 80. I'll be anxious to see what LX mods become available over the next year or so. I have a feeling I'll be in the market for one.

Super cool stuff Christo!

Hey, that is not what you said in your office on the back seat with the DVD on, the  right behind you and the AC on full blast with even your own controls :flipoff2:

I do recall you becomming very posesive about your spot on the back seat of the WAGON :D

[Hijaak] PS, what is the dates of the TX event? Need to make sure we have the 4Runner done so that we can come down and get some pudding.

I think Nolen liked the back seat of the Lexus. I remember on the ARB trip trying to reach him on the CB. Christo replied "Nolen is watching a movie right now, try back a little later."

Cal :D

One thing that was interesting on that trip, out of all the rigs Christo had the largest refer. However, whenever we went through any little towns and got a chance to stop, the Lexus boys had to "resupply". Perhaps thier supply problem was related to Nolen's "spot" directly in front of the monster ARB fridge. :D

Just kidding Nolen ;)

No $hit....... I'm still having nightmares.........I hear the CB in my sleep........"We're going to do another transition shot here, I want everyone to turn around, go back and go through here again so we can film it"

In the 60 we didn't crack the fridge much before noon! :D

All in all, a good article. Nolen might have missed some points but I think he got the message accross. All in all LX's are just plain cooler than UZJ's :bounce:

I do not agree with you there.. the LX is a nice SUV but it has less "cool" factor IMHO..

I had the choice between the two and picked the LC to the astonishment of the sales person (not much price difference between the V8 LC and the LX470 here, about $3000 only) especially when he knew that I'm not going to finance the car..

the LX is an overkill in luxury when it comes to SUVs.. it's too insulated and quiet.. doesn't feel like a true 4x4 to me.. it's similar to the range rover, X5, etc in that aspect..

the LC on the other hand (at least the ones over here) are quite luxurious and capable.. they have the adjustable height control, electric steering wheel, when you push down the gas pedal you feel that you are driving a true 4x4.. unlike the LX which needs a lot of mods to give that feel..

some difference in performance exsist between the two.. accourding to edmunds.com the LC is better in hauling..

Hauling LX 470 Land Cruiser
Max. Cargo Capacity 90 cu. ft. 91 cu. ft.
Max. Payload Capacity 1270 lbs. 1470 lbs.
Max. Towing Capacity 5000 lbs. 6500 lbs.

just my thoughts on the subject.. I might be mistaken.. :)

You don't get adjustable height control or electric steering wheels on LC's here in the States.

Lower towing capacity and hauling capacity are probably due to the softer springs on the Lexus, which you probably have on your LC if you are getting the adjustable height control.

And since when does a vehicle have to be noisy to be a real truck or off-roader? I once thought otherwise as well, but riding in a vehicle for 9 hours to get to the destination will have you thinking otherwise. :D

@shocker

The LC is not noisy at all.. I did not say that.. the LX is just too quiet and tranquil for me :)

Understood. I've never ridden in a 100 series Land Cruiser, just a LX470.

So with slee heavy 2.5" lift on LX, will the 315/75/r16 fit?
Well, since your digging up a 13 year old thread that barely even discusses suspension, I will try to answer your question. Short answer: no. Long answer: there are so many factors that relate to this and there are many more recent threads discussing the topic, including Show off your 100 beast with 35's..... . It is doable. Any suspension lift (ironman, OME, tough dog, etc) will get you half way there. Then you will need to make room for the tires, either by modifying the inner fender in some way or by doing a body lift. The 315 is a very wide tire for a 35, there are many people running a skinnier 35 without many issues.

Heres another: Slee medium 2.5 lift and 35s

Edit: I see you got your answer in another thread, now let this thread sink back down to the depths of mud.
