Alright this should be sufficient time for those interested to plan accordingly. Lets start putting together a list for those interested in attending a trail ride the 22/23 of April, can be a 2 day ride or just one of the days. For those traveling a distance am sure 2 days would be better than one. I will update this accordingly (meeting place/time, etc.)

Sounds good Greg, thanks for the info.

I may try and join you guys for a little while on Saturday on my way home from OBX. I guess it will depend on when you guys are starting and me finding you on the trails...

April Trip

Sounds awesome. I am plannign on it with at least 1 or 2 of the kids.

I picked up a '70 FJ 40 over the winter and have been going bananas to get her out on the trail.
Got a set of 31" Super Swampers and T-100 rims for $100 from a guy I bumped into in our local Home depot parking lot. I had mounted and installed same day.

We have been camping on the Badin Lake site since it opened up last summer...spots are all lake or lake view with new shower and bath facilities. We take the boat when it warms up and trail ride till it is too hot, then boat, ski, swim and tube.

I myself have been going since the early 90's. Have taken a few different rigs thru there. Was glad they updated the Badin Lake Campground myself.

I may be there on the 21st.

over and out

mmmm Newguy. New FJ Cruiser would love to stop by and test the FJ for a day maybe 2 depends. Newbie off-roader here :D. Though I do have experience diggin out friend's trucks out of the mud. he.

Hey, if there is going to be an FJ there i will definately be there to wheel.

Would a 3rd gen 4Runner be welcome on this run? I could use a good shakedown run before I head to Tellico in May.

Got a question.. how bad is Uwharrie in terms of mud. I do wanna go but after spending 2 days cleaning her up after going mudding. I do not feel like doing it again in less than a month. :) If there's rocks/streams/logs count me in. Mudpits I'll stay away.

You can avoid the mud, mostly. If it's raining then you will get a little muddy.

A little trick is to spray the underbody of your rig with either baby oil or some armorall (sp?) while it's clean. Then when the mud hits, it doesn't stick and just falls off. When you get back, put a sprinkler under the truck, turn it on and walk away for about 30 minutes. When you come back, 90% of the mud will be gone.

This is also a work weekend up there with the FS. From looking at the nc4x4 there is going to be a few people there. Just a heads up.

John, as long as i get off my lazy 4th point of contact and put my new motor mounts on you are more than welcome to come with us.

Any updates with specific meeting schedule (i.e. day, time, location)?

Yeah, I ve got some electrical issues on the 40, but the 80 should be fine.
I am hoping to bring both, but we shall see.

Can anybody with a coil and resistor take a look and tell me where the heck the small wire from the distributor should go. I found some wiring diagrams that show it going to the neg lead off the coil, but when I put it there it gives me a max on the + side of the amp meter in the cab?

We are planning on camping in the Badin Lake Campground.

Morning breakfast and gathering at the Outpost Saturday???

George
