Gotta ask, what's fun about watching guys at the outpost????

Funny... I shoulda have said there is a group of guys that are always fun to watch (on the trail "obstacles"), that are meeting at the outpost at 9am...

LOL..I guess the way I typed it made it seem like that... They suuure are exciting to see them unstrap a rig from a trailer... :D

Rich, you bringing the buggy?

So, is it official that Badin Lake Group Camp site C has been reserved? If so, how much is it per night, and how many rigs can fit in there? I've never been to that camp before, so I have no idea what size it is. I would like to stay there with the group as long as there is plenty of space.

I know several guys that are planning on going that don't get on this forum, so there may be too many of us for this camping spot. If so, we can camp somewhere else.

So far the rig count of people not on this forum is between 6 and 8. There are 4 or 5 Toyotas, 2 Suzukis, a Heep, and a Trooper that are planning to come. We are all planning to be at the Outpost around 9:00 Saturday morning.

I'm not gonna wheel the tow rig... ;) Yeah, the rolling flag will be there...

Just to be sure, this is the group camp that has the large grassy field in front of you as you come in, that they just installed showers in, right? I'd rather leave my tow rig there if it's OK.

I should be able to make it....but only on Saturday. I should be at the outpost in the morn....

Yep, it's official. Badin Lake Group Camp, Site C. I talked with a ranger earlier this week and was told it accomodates up to 50 people and 10 vehicles so we'll be OK on the people, vehicles may be pushing it. There are other spots near there for more vehicle parking though, such as the field. It's on 597a on the map, near the lake. Well marked.

Alex, the UC president, made the reservations and pre-paid $90 for the 2 night reservation. So, anyone who makes it by and camps needs to kick some money his way.

UC is camping Friday and Saturday night and it looks like the turnout Sat night will be a lot higher from the NC crowd...

UPDATE: Slight change. Just spoke with Tollhole and there was a mixup with camping reservations. The Boyscouts were allocated Site C in Badin Lake Group Camp and we're now looking for a place to camp.

We have a few different options we're exploring but they are all first come, first serve at this point.

Therefore, we won't know where we're camping until we get there.

QUESTION: Is anyone else (non-Upstate Cruisers) planning on meeting / camping Friday night? If so, and you want to camp with this group, PM me so we can exchange contact info.

Otherwise, plan to communicate and track UC down as you come in on Sat / Sun by Channel 4 on CB and 15 on 2 way radios (Motorola talkabout type).

Man this is getting confusing. :) I won't be camping, but i'll be driving down Saturday morning.

Yeah, the reservation that went to the Boyscouts mysteriously doesn't help but it's really not that confusing - especially if you ain't camping!! :flipoff2:

We'll be camping near the trails or on the trails - one or the other! :D

Me and the other guys I mentioned will be arriving at the Outpost around 9:00 Saturday morning. I guess we'll just unload there. Whenever we figure out where we're going to camp we can come back to get the tow rigs.

Does anybody have any better suggestions?

Can we unload in the field next to the outpost and leave the truck / trailer there for the day ? Been there just never tried that, always had a camping spot / off loaded at the Atv spot.

Well, it is becoming slim that I will be able to make it Saturday (how long does the SAT usually take?), but I would be happy to meet up with you guys somewhere sometime Sunday. Any ideas where you guys'll be at any given time on Sunday?

Use either CB or 2-way to track folks down.

No, tow rigs will be fine there until you figure out where you want to camp Sat night.

Seems that some are camping, and are not sure exactly where yet, some are driving in fairly early and some just a little later.

What do you say everyone tries to meet at the outpost around 10:00. That should give eveyone enough time to get out of the tent and take a few tylenol for the hangovers, eat some breakfast and those driving down early can have time to get their rigs unloaded or even hit a quick trail and be back in time to meet up.

Should be a good photo opp. and give everyone a chance to meet. It would be awesome to see a ton of cruisers at the outpost. Usually i see large groups of jeeps :(
