Has there been any other data or mention of a possible diesel for the US market?

Thanks,

Have not heard much, but I think the first Toyota diesel will be a Tundra dually with the in line Hino 6 cyl. VW and BMW are planning on waiting for the price gap between reg gas and diesel to slim down before producing more US diesels. My guess would be Toyota will wait till the price drops as well before diving into the diesel pool to deep in the US.

I think you will see a diesel version of the Land Cruiser...not sure if the 4.5 Tundra/Seq everyone is talking about is the same as the overseas 200 series diesel. The current diesel Land Cruiser overseas can go for nearly $105,000 US when you factor in the exchange rate. In one market a fully loaded Land Cruiser 4.5 diesel will cost you $111,000 US.

A 4.7 petrol 200 series will cost you around $70k which is about the cost of the USA 200 series. A loaded petrol will cost close to 90k.

I am not sure if the US public will pay this much for a diesel Land Cruiser.
