I have both a 2016 Tundra and a 2009 LC with the 5.7L engine. Just curious what differences, if any, exist between the two engines? It would be interesting to compare the Japanese vs. the American version.

I don't know, but if I had to guess I would say camshafts and programming. And camshafts might not even be a "thing" anymore with all the modern variable cam timing systems.

Only the U.S.-made 5.7L engines are available in a Flex Fuel version.

I was going thru part number comparison between two motors and discovered few differences. These differences are upper oil pan, main timing chain, heads, intake and exhaust valves. But most of the part numbers matched between both motors. I am speculating that head is probably different due to tow haul mode in the tundra. I didn't dig any further than that.

I should have read this thread before posting my question.

My dealership told me the air filters are different between the LX 570 and a Land Cruiser. So I'm guessing the air boxes are different in size and shape as well. I'm trying to find out if this is true as I know dealerships are known for lying.

Just responded to your other thread with this: I bought an extra air filter for my 2014 Land Cruiser and sold the truck before I needed to replace the air filter again. I now have an 08 LX 570, and the air filter was exactly the same when I replaced it. Even if one is a Lexus part number and one is a Toyota part number, the filter most definitely fits.
