My emergency brake is not releasing! could anyone give me detailed intructions what to do? It's a 85 BJ70...
I assume the brake is on the rear drive shaft, right? can I get that thing open?

please help... I will have a bunch of beer now...

I have the manual, but can't find the information on the brake!

thanks guys!

The brake is on the rear axle, Jan. The bellcrank that activates the parking brake may get stuck when rusty. Look at where the cable that runs behind the axle attaches behind the brake drums. Take off the cable and see if you can free up the arm by moving it back and forth. Remove the rubber boot and see if there is a lot of dirt and moisture trapped there.

Look at the Rear Brake section in the FSM.

Sometimes when they are just getting sticky you can pull on the line behind the axle and free them up. The new cranks from Toy do not have a bi-metal reaction, however IF you can get your old ones apart, turf the clip, neversieze them up, and put back together.

I took everything apart, cleaned it, greased it, serviced the drum brakes, and now everything works perfectly!
thanks all,
Jan
