In respect to the exterior, does anyone have any experience with this? Are the parts directly replaceable for

  • Front Bumper
  • Projector Lights
  • Grille

Local Toyota dealers tells me that in order to update the front bumpers, i need to change the front fenders, lights and grille, is this true? How is this possible when the 202 (2013) GX Models are fitted with the 2011 headlamps? I feel they are forced to answer incorrectly due to some policy

Hopefully someone with experience can let us know

I suspect it's more ignorance than policy. [STRIKE]The easiest place to start would be to go to the parts department and ask them to look up the part numbers for the front fenders for a 2013 and a 2011 (or whatever you currently have) and see if they match. If so, obviously you don't need to change them. If they are different you'd have to investigate more to see what is truly different about them.[/STRIKE]

Edit: scratch that, according to a couple articles that I read regarding the 2013 release, the fenders are different.

For what that would cost, you can have a nice ARB or TJM front bumper.

Update

I emailed two tuners specializing in LC OEM and aftermarket parts and have received a reply from both

  • Tuner From Japan confirmed that it will not fit. They did not state any reasons.
  • Tuner From Taiwan confirmed that it is a direct fit, and asking me if i wish to order the parts.

Meanwhile sptsdn, Where did you read about the fenders being different? the only visual difference i can notice are the turn signals. Maybe that's what they meant in the articles you found.

Anyone here care to bust this myth?

I originally saw it mentioned in a Motor Trend article but dug a little deeper and found it mentioned in Toyota's press release:

"The design continues to convey an "Advanced and Rugged" theme with enlarged front and rear fenders."

It's tough to tell from the picture you posted if the fenders are the "updated" fenders or not. It wouldn't surprise me if those headlights in your picture are different than the 2011's even though they look very similar. But that is pure speculation on my part; I've looked at pictures between the 2011 and 2013 models and can't really see a difference between the fenders!

They are pretty much the updated ones, you can easily tell as there are no embedded turn signals.

Looking up part numbers are no use, because they will obviously differ for the above reason.

If you can come to RAK either Thursday or Friday, I can show you what you have to do to add the projector headlights to the older style TLC's 200. (I have around 10 or so right now - but I ordered another 45 TLC's for next month)

Now I might be wrong but for yrs I have always been instructed by TMC that the 202 is the RHD version and its not the 2012/2013 cosmetic trim.

Alot of the TLC's you will see in the GCC can come as what they call "factory order" or "deleted spec". Dealers can order them this way and then put the upgrades on themselves at a much cheaper price. (see Al Doha and Fani)

The HID lights with OEM housing and Denso ballast will cost you around 4500-5000AED to do properly that included the new wire adapters and labour in SHJ.

Thanks xKennx for the invitation, sorry I am not familiar with the emirates. How far is your operations from DUBAI? I am very interested to visit as I have plans to travel there around March.

What about the updated bumpers? are they a direct fit without the need to replace the headlights with the newer projectors?
