Got my oil results from Blackstone.
The oil is RotellaT syn 5w40
I was having rich and lean codes but it stopped after decarboning with Seafoam through the PCV hose and Toyota FI cleaner in the gas tank.

My oil consumption strange and goes like this:
drive 3000 mi add 1qt
drive 1500 mi add 1qt
drive 1000 mi add 1qt

There is gas in the oil, this could be from an leaking injector thus the rich and lean codes.
Could the FI cleaner in the tank correct the leaking injector (wish wish) I guess I need to MAF swap injectors or have the injectors sent in for cleaning.

Could the gas in the oil cause my strange consumption or is there another problem or is the comsumption normal?

I guess the pressing thing from this report is the high fuel content, take care of that and the rest may fall in to place, if not the fuel has to be taken care of anyway. It could be a leaky injector, a swap set might be a good idea, could be a bad O2 sensor, also you have a lot of miles, how is your compression? High blow by could put fuel in the oil, do you make a lot of short trips? it could collect naturally if the engine does not ever warm up to boil it off, high fuel content could explain some of the consumption problems, as the oil gets more fuel in it and thins over time it will consume more. But the vis looks OK per Blackstone hmm

Sorry I cannot tell exactly witch direction you need to go to find the source of the fuel.

interesting that you have high-ish lead but 0 tin, my first report had high-ish lead and also tin, the tin has since tapered off to the average 1ppm, yours is below even the average, I was thinking the tin was part of the alloy in the bearings, maybe it is elsewhere? Valve guides?

I would like to know the exact metallurgy of the 1FZ so theses things can be tracked,

I'd start with a compression test. Maybe it's a combination of short trips and a good amount of blow by. Do you tend to let the truck idle for long periods while warming up. Maybe the gas is also the reason for your consumption. As the pecentage rises so does your consumption.

When its cold out the wife will let it warm up before driving but most of the time she has it in gear before it is running on all cylinders :)
Most tirps are either very long (30+mi hwy) or very short (1mi in town).

I will do a compression check and either send out or send in the injectors.

You have a fuel issue. You should not see any fuel in the oil if you are driving mostly long trips. Fix that and your wear numbers should improve. Contrary to what most believe, there is really no problem with consuming 1 quart of oil every 1500 miles.

My truck has much less miles on it (87k). It consumes about the same amount of oil as the truck described here when I drive exclusively around town which is most always (my truck does not cosume any noticable oil when I drive on trips, just my normal stop and go stuff). I have been told by Toyota (and it also states some of this in the owners manual) that some oil consumption is ok. Infact, they do not consider it a problem unless it is more than 1 quart per 1000 miles.

My only concern with this is that oil usage could lead to engine deposits in the combustion chamber, and like in my case, agrivate my intermittant pinging problem (comes and goes).

I am no expert here so I may be wrong in this assumption.

Thanks

Andrew
