I got one that looks like that off Amazon. I'm wondering if anyone knows of any rebuild kits out there. I still have the original and I'd be willing to attempt to resurrect it also.
If any Mudder want

What is the purpose of this part? I know my imported 1983 Fj40 LX has it on there.
It looks like it distributes the force of the hood pads and prevents denting.

It may however I have never had an issue with that on any of my other 40’s.
Alternatively, if those are installed unpainted from the factory, it was their solution to the paint rubbing problem that I’ve seen on a few of my early FJ40s?

That is a good point. Yes they were installed unpainted. My 83 looks like an after thought. I assumed it was Aftermarket when I first saw it.

Very late production usage. I think 1982 was the first year they showed up.

Correction, 12/30/2024: 1981 is the first year.

The best rate will always go to Mud members who PM me directly because I can bypass Ebay or Amazon overheads and pass on the savings! :)

I'm pretty sure there are more lawyers in the USA than there are Cruisers. I will probably have to make one that says Toyota for myself and sell you guys the G rated version
Can't sue yourself
