If any Mudder wantI got one that looks like that off Amazon. I'm wondering if anyone knows of any rebuild kits out there. I still have the original and I'd be willing to attempt to resurrect it also.
It looks like it distributes the force of the hood pads and prevents denting. What is the purpose of this part? I know my imported 1983 Fj40 LX has it on there.
It may however I have never had an issue with that on any of my other 40’s.It looks like it distributes the force of the hood pads and prevents denting.
Alternatively, if those are installed unpainted from the factory, it was their solution to the paint rubbing problem that I’ve seen on a few of my early FJ40s?It may however I have never had an issue with that on any of my other 40’s.
That is a good point. Yes they were installed unpainted. My 83 looks like an after thought. I assumed it was Aftermarket when I first saw it.Alternatively, if those are installed unpainted from the factory, it was their solution to the paint rubbing problem that I’ve seen on a few of my early FJ40s?
I too have had J4's with these on and also assumed they were aftermarket. Guess they make sense in the rust belts where the paint rubbing off is not a good thing. That is a good point. yes they are stainless. The rubber pads on top of the bib with a little road dirt, combined with friction from hood movement, equals the paint rubbed off the hood lip. Besides those plates not being painted, aren’t they made from stainless?
Can't sue yourselfThe best rate will always go to Mud members who PM me directly because I can bypass Ebay or Amazon overheads and pass on the savings!
I'm pretty sure there are more lawyers in the USA than there are Cruisers. I will probably have to make one that says Toyota for myself and sell you guys the G rated version![]()
