Well said! My family and I were talking yesterday about the fact that all the ultra extremist environmentalist driving their electric cars do not think about what was done to the planet to mine the lithium for their batteries, or the cobalt used in them too from the Congo (much of which looks like a scene out of an Indiana Jones movie with thousands of people including children slaving away with a hammer and chisel, nor do they think about where the electricity is coming from when they recharge their batteries like coal fired power plants (oh yeah, that's green). Californian's don't want Nuclear power in their state, but when they start having brown outs and black outs what do they do...? They draw power off of Arizona's Nuclear Power Plants. Give me a break. Or, they want to shame someone like me that enjoys a perfectly cooked steak, while they forget the almonds and avocados they are eating were flown in on jumbo jets burning tons of jet fuel while dumping exhaust into the atmosphere, and then shipped to their trendy market in diesel trucks bellowing black smoke out of the exhaust stack.@shipmag :
"I'm only 72 but at 48 they told me I had a mind of an 80 year old." For thousands of years the Asian cultures revered their older citizens as wise, and treasured the wisdom and intelligence they had accumulated over a lifetime. So sad in our present American disposable culture, that we put our oldest folks with their amassed knowledge and tested experiences out to pasture, rather than learn from them some very valuable hard-earned lessons on life and living. There will be a price to be paid.
You're on the right side of history, seeing the value in a time-tested well-built older vehicle. Have to chuckle at the young-uns riding around in their battery-powered self-driving plastic cars, so enamored with their latest computer screens and talking assistants. There's Artificial Intelligence and then there's Real Intelligence. I know which I'd rather have, and I think so do you !
LOL, exactly my point... THEY (CA) don't want it in their state, but what you are saying is they don't mind owning part of one in someone else's state. That seems the definition of hypocritical to me. I lived in AZ years ago, and my dad and other family and friends still live in AZ, and it just always seemed nuts to us.AZ currently has 4.7 gW of renewable capacity vs. 4.2 gW of nuclear. If and when a CA consumer needs AZ's portion of the nationwide grid,
they will be more likely to get renewably sourced electricity than nuclear sourced. The percentage of renewables will continue to increase.
As an aside, various CA utilities own 27.5% of the Palo Verde, AZ nuclear power plant.
The San Onofre nuclear power plant boondoggle was the nail in the nuclear coffin for CA. Diablo Canyon continues to produce, however.LOL, exactly my point... On a side note, I saw Elon Musk say if out in the middle of nowhere we built (if I remember correctly) a 100 square mile solar farm, it could provide enough power for the entire USA. I think he did a project similar to that in Australia.
I saw a T-shirt years ago that said "Never underestimate the stupidity of people in large numbers." One of my employees a few years ago also had a T-shirt that said PETA and on the back it said People Eating Tasty Animals, and another one that said "I like cats... they taste like chicken.I’m working on cornering the market for Natural Stupidity.
Looks great! If you need someone to help test anything out, you just let me know.
I could use one of those on my 1965 build. I still have 4 drums but trying to get a 60 front end with disc brakes.I am the beta tester for one of the brake boosters. Installed it in my '74 cruiser and have been driving around with it. We tweaked some things and performance is great! Those tweaks will be integrated into the final specs.
I have no problem locking up my drum brakes. Boost feels good. And it sure looks purdy...

I got one that looks like that off Amazon. I'm wondering if anyone knows of any rebuild kits out there. I still have the original and I'd be willing to attempt to resurrect it also.I could use one of those on my 1965 build. I still have 4 drums but trying to get a 60 front end with disc brakes.
What about a simple "T-L-C" (Tender Loving Care ;-} ) (oh, yeah. Copyright 2024 ;-} )Currently under assessment. One issue is that I can't print "Toyota" on it. Just consulted a lawyer.
2024 Renewable generation figures are reduced from previous years no doubt due to the much reduced Colorado river flow hydropower.
Need to install mine!
Very happy with finished reproduction. Turned out really well.Need to install mine!
Answers With Joe talked about the proposed solution in place. Not downplaying the problem but wanted to reference to see what you though about the stuff he mentions.2024 Renewable generation figures are reduced from previous years no doubt due to the much reduced Colorado river flow hydropower.
The steak looks GOOOOOD!! What's that green stuff cluttering-up the plate???Well said! I am completely good with being responsible when it comes to the planet and environment, and I think it's better than it was back in the 1970's when dark clouds of smog hung over large cities like Dallas, Houston, LA, and so on, or all the black exhaust I remember seeing come out of cars back then. And, I'm all for freedom of choice for someone to be a vegan or whatever they want to do. All I want is for them to leave my perfectly cooked steak & shrimp dinner alone and let me eat it in peace. LOL. Their freedom of choice should not infringe on my freedom of choice.
Can I get an AMEN anyone? LOL! See attached photo! Mmm... Mmm... MMM!!!
