Yep, this has effectively turned the tube steel into channel. It is significantly weaker like this. I think I might do minimal grinding, just to get clean metal to weld to, and slide a piece of something like 1" x 1/8" flat bar in there to back the holes, then just fill it in flush. I suspect fitting the angle to the inside of the tube may be more challenging than expected because the corner of the angle iron is a sharp corner, but the inside of the tube is slightly rounded. A little creative grinding on the new piece might help.Even in a strictly front end square hit the frame is compromised. Hit from the side or at an angle and that frame horn will have no strength and fold in against the fender.
