Where can I go to get undercarriage rust prevention spray done? I saw that LINE-X of Raleigh offers that service, but they quoted me $700-$900 for the job and they only use black paint, which I don't want. Is this something easy enough that maybe tackle on my own with a Fluid Film rattle can?

You could always by raptor paint. It’s like line x but you can do it yourself and cheaper

Fluid Film is a very common and popular annual Yankee treatment. I've not used it, except for yard tools, but most folks I know who do use it apply it themselves and only complain about the odor. It can be purchased in spray cans or gallon cans for sprayers, and some people have even used what looks like a yard sprinkler on wheels (Amazon, but I don't have a link) to spray it. I wanna say @afgman786 once posted about that method.

Yes I do. Liquid Film gets everywhere and protects very well, also helps lubricate a little. The vehicle undercarrieage may look like its wet for a while. but thats just the film slow drying. Shake the cans well before use, like the old army cosmoline that used to be used in anything needing rust protection

What Vee said, it can be yearly or bi-yearly in upsate NY snow and salt belt, where for 15 years I could hear my vehicles rust on a quiet day. Down here.....not so harsh, lasts for years.

In this region (southeast) you don't need any sort of undercoating. Why the desire?

I'm planning on doing some driving on the beach this summer. Thought it might be a good idea to protect the truck from the salt spray.

IMO the best way to protect the truck after driving on the beach is to *get a car wash*, and vacuum the sand/salt out of the interior. Putting a sticky undercoating on underneath for all that sand to stick to is the wrong direction.

Car wash with the underbody spray specifically. I go to a DIY place and lean underneath, but you could get something like this instead pressure washer attachment. Bonus, works well with mud too (supposedly):

Thanks for the input! I was planning on doing a belly spray after the beach drive, which could potentially spray off the Fluid Film anyway. It sounds like as long as I give it a good wash afterward, it shouldn't cause any rust.

Fluid film won't wash off that quickly. I spray every fall and it lasts till summer with wheeling and washing the rig.
I would stay away from line x or anything like that since that is a thick layer paint and if rust did start it would eat away under the layer without you really being able to see it

an oscillating lawn sprinkler also works wonders for your undercarriage after a beach drive.
