So I'm getting the dreaded navigation "No Disc" error, despite there being a map disc. Unit is getting power and I can eject, clean, and replace. I feel reader head movement, but it could be stuck. I tried to blast contaminants out with canned air. No joy - still not reading. Disc is immaculate.

Google searches show it being a ridiculously expensive part to replace. Has anyone had any luck pulling the player out and repairing it? I cannot find anything online with removal instruction. I can only see two bolts towards the rear of the truck, and of course, the nuts are below and hidden. It's certainly easy enough to remove those two and see if it does the trick, but not without risk if those nuts drop into the abyss.

Anyone tried repair and or/replace on this part this before?

What year? I have a spare nav system and DVD you can have

The drive is easy to replace with a used one. Slide the seat all the way forward and you can get to most of the bolts. Slide it back if you need to reach the front. You'll need to check if you can use a gen 4 or need to stay with 2. If your current one is a gen 3 you can likely upgrade to a gen 4 (2004+). If you go with a gen 4 you will need to buy a new disk on eBay. I replaced the gen 3 drive in my 2003 LC with a gen 4 drive I got on eBay. The most recent disk was about $10. The swap only took about 30 minutes.

FWIW, I haven't messed around w/ the DVD drive, but I have removed and reinstalled the ML amp under that passenger seat. Take the seat out. It's easy to do, and you can see what you're doing after it's out. Worth the time.

If you want a gen 3 from my 2003, I'll trade if you get the gen 4 from the other poster lol.
