If you'd like some insight on what's been happening at the TLCA Board lately, read the link from Greg's post above. Art Schramm is resigning from the Board. He was one of the VP's - I think Marketing and Sales Vice President, but I'm not sure.

This is not the first time drama has invaded the BOD.

Happens across the spectrum; right now there's a fuss w/the Doberman Pinscher Club of America BOD, and a few years back the Concours Owners Group went through some upheaval, just to mention 2 groups I've received email/read on specific forums.

My only comment/observation is, that is one BIG reason I joined HDC rather than any of the several other TLCA chapters much closer to my current location - you guys seem like a laid-back group to whom wheeling with friends and helping each other are more important than the egos and cliques that are usually inevitable with an organized club.

I hope the national officers and BOD can get their problems worked out; a mostly thankless job I bet.

Dude, didnt'cha know that this club is all about Shawn? Come'on, where ya been all this time???

I lurk here insteada hangn w/my:fill-in-the-blank: The peeps here are WAY more helpful, kind, and considerate.

 to the HDC'ers, for not hating on lurkers.

The irrationality of JeZp is legend. I have experienced it myself. That's why I'm waiting until new national officers to renew.

Can somebody give me a little bit of clarity on what all of this means? It appears a couple of national officers/notable folks are resigning their posts/not renewing their TLCA memberships (Schramm, Algazy). Obviously there are some serious disagreements going on at a high level, unfortunately affecting the basic core of how TLCA operates, pays for stuff and lets the world know of its existence. What are the scenarios here? I know HDC is officially a TLCA sanctioned chapter. There must be benefits to operating under its umbrella. What if TLCA ceases to exist? Do we just remove our requirement for membership to that organization from our by-laws?

We could, but I think the important thing to remember is that this is a short term problem (from my perspective). I think all will be good in a few months.

Some good questions here. I may be able to give some insight, but I'd prefer if we could have the conversation in a group setting, perhaps at the December HDC meeting? This is a public forum and I think some discretion may be appropriate here.

In general that's true, prolly 90% of the time. But we've had a few pissy episodes here, some of which I am not proud to admit involved myself. I resigned as VP in a huff, but now don't even remember over what. It was during a time when my personal and professional life was unravelling and I dragged that load of sh*t into HDC stuff. So I guess cut the BOD guys some slack and as Steve suggested this too shall pass quickly...

For me, TLCA is pretty much irrelevant. I only mainly sign up for TT and to be able to do a couple of runs a year (Rubithon/Cruise Moab) and even Cruise Moab is becoming less and less a priority for me.

The personal problems they have there seem to come and go and represent the somewhat dysfunctional nature of of our hobby anyway, so I take it with a grain of salt.

I think HDC is a much more valuable group in terms of localized benefits and affiliations.

Just my $.02.

Understood. I'll do my best to make it to the December meeting.
