Another Troopy here...'88 pop top in Atlanta.

Sweet! I like the bambi slammer front bumper. I would love to have a pop top someday. What does the interior look like?

Here's the interior. Gutted the old OSB cabinets and ponied up for some Baltic Birch action. Sink, stove, 6' drawer. Fireball here on the forums crafted these - I highly recommend him for any cabinetry builds. Ben's work is top notch and he's a pleasure to work with.

ah so you are the elusive troopy..... i saw some pics of those being built. BAD>>>>ASS

May I play too?

I've been lurking here for a bit while I studied and learned from all of you what to look for in my new Land Cruiser and I reckon that collectively, you taught me well. Last week I bought this 1990 HZJ77 from @SteveJackson at Land Cruisers Direct. The pyrite mica Tacoma in the background is getting jealous of all the attention I'm giving to it's new stable mate.

I need to change a few of the aftermarket upgrades to "make it mine" as it were but I love it. I already have reached out to a few vendors here to get that process started as I hope to be able to take it to the Lone Star Toyota Jamboree in a couple weeks.
I was just visiting Steves website and screamed a little when I saw that big red "sold" appear across the image of what I thought might be my new rig!
Congrats on the purchase: she is a beaut!

The good ones seem to go quickly.

Holy cow, I can't believe I just found this thread!
I know of 3 other than the ones posted above personally, land cruisers direct sold 2 more that i dont think have joined here. On the site i would say yes, US wide, i would say maybe 20 ish?

I kept a list of troopys as I read all 20 pages and here is my count: 12 on here (I still have to post mine), 2 more in Grand Junction and 2-4 in Telluride, depending on how many @T-ridecruiser owns. Add in a few more that Steve sold, and I'd agree with about 20 in the USA.

Definitely time for T-shirts! Maybe belt buckles would be more durable and club-like?

There are numerous 70 Series in the U.S. that should be listed on this thread but because it's not in the "sticky" section, it gets relegated to the dust bin fairly quickly. Please encourage everyone to register.
I also encourage those that can to join us here ....2nd Annual Southeast 70 Series Meet and Greet and Trailride - Sept23-25, 2016 - Oliver Springs, TN

I always like to see other interior builds, so here is mine. Purpleheart bumper cover, wenge interior panels (diamond plate is for amateurs), maple (edged in walnut) cargo-box/dog-platform, and walnut wheel-well covers. Camping boxes and cooler fill the floor space by the bench to make a sleeping platform.

The bar keeps the dog bed from sliding around and the space behind the driver seat contains the wife-basket and beverage cooler. The driver seat bar extends so the seat can still be pulled forward.

Divided into to two open spaces, we keep the heavy mechanical/recovery stuff in the back bins over the wheels and the front bins are for whatever and camping gear. There is still space behind the seats to recline and store stuff we need to get at a lot.

The side wells have proven very useful for things like the Hi-lift (keeping it outside in our mag-cloride roads is a bad idea), shovel and hammock, of course.

We need to improve the sound system from the standard crappy 4" speakers up front. I'm thinking of mounting some larger speakers up high above the windows, so send me your solutions!
Enjoy the journey,
Scott

Felt a burn in my ear:)

Yes, this was mine. Miss it - had it for ~5 years. Hated to sell it. I did all the work ( a ton of work ) on it except paint the interior. Totally stripped exterior (removed front fenders, etc) to bare metal and painted with 2-3 coated 2K epoxy and 1 coat sealer and 2-3 coats single stage acrylic urethane. It is the FJ cruiser white/tan color code (Sandstorm or Desert Tan, can't remember at the moment).
Truck originally didn't have sliding windows or snorkel. Powdercoated a bunch of the bits, and a ton of new OEM parts like new weatherstripping (fully overhauled the sliding windows) and windshield, and OME from CruiserOutfitters. It has a 60 series Kaymar rear bumper which I was going to finish the mounting, but it fits pretty well I think. Added the dual battery trays. Low KM truck for the age that was very well maintained, original build on engine and gearbox. Glad to see it being DD'ed and taken to the next level with the interior build out.

As the number of 70 Series slowly increase in the U.S. I encourage every new owner to take time to register and post a photo of their Cruiser.
Thanks
