I mushed my plastic FJC rear bumper when we were last at Hawk Pride. Took it off today and set it in front of the gas log to warm up....
beat it back straight (ish)....

I took a break from working on the brakes to do something different.
I really like these brackets by yodateeq: Ditch Light Mirror Mounts - FZJ80 Toyota Land Cruiser Lexus LX450 - https://yodateq.com/collections/mounts/products/dlmm-fj80
But I also like $128. So I found some old sheet metal in my barn and got to work.
The ones by yodateq maybe laser cut, but mine a joseph cut. Not so smooth. The fines tool Harbor Freight had to offer 15 years ago.
Here is painted up with a free to me fire stick antenna I am turning black.

Ok the bracket is on. I am concerned that the free to me antenna is too tall.

Yeah.... I had a 2 foot antenna on the bumper, and it barely got over the hood, to the transmission was horrible. I made this mount for the 2 footer and traded for the 4 footer at the same time. maybe I should go back to the bumper.Yeah, and they usually get mounted a little lower on the bumper too

Yeah I have been doing ham for a while, I like doing digital modes and APRS. I think most off roaders should be doing APRS.

We don’t get separated by much distance on the trails we run so usually not a problem
Yeah makes sense, that why I originally had only a 2 foot antenna for the CB. I used to be in the rocket city rock crawlers (like ten years ago
) and they had a requirement to have a CB.

Been a busy month. Moved to the 60 the new garage. Cut the roof off And put the 2F on a diet. Desmogg, Misc gaskets, alternator, ps pump, and a Webber.

Diffs everywhere. A few beers later they were all set. Bush is making good progress for the end of the month. I've got a lot of catching up to do!

Busy day. Used the roof off the 60 to patch it’s floors. Used a combination of spot welds, a assortment of hammers and seam sealer. Didn’t get finished but it’s a big step in the right direction.
