Yeah, I started a new job this week and I am not on during the day anymore because I actually have something to do and I give a crap now......

I am bummed that the coverage doesn't start till' 8:00 and runs till' 12:00 I wish it would go 7:00 to 11:00! All the good stuff seems to be happening after 10:00 and I missed the relay and the gymnastics the last two nights but I did catch womens volleyball last night :)

Congrats on the new job. I am catching most of it by luck/obligation staying up with the new daughter. I get the first shift till midnight. Good timing on our part.

I am looking forward to the womens volleyball tonight. Walsh and May should have no trouble. They havent lost in 103 matches!

WOW, Phelps is THE MAN.... Ties Mark Spitz with 7 Gold Medals in one games!
NOW THIS IS BLING!!
spitz.jpg

If it wasn't for technology Phelps would have never gotten that win. I mean, an extra stroke where his arms were completely out at his side while the other guy was 3-4 inches from the wall AMAZING.... VIDEO LINK >>>>>>

Yeah, I guess now we will see some Track & Field. That Bolt guy from Jamaica was amazing last night!!! How is it possible for humans to get faster at running the 100 meter dash? Suits and shoes wouldn't matter that much as the suits in swimming does?

I'm a swimmer and I'm even tired of Phelps!

The suits in swimming are all about resistance and fluid dynamics; far greater gains to be had in water than in air. The scary thing is that people just keep getting faster.

Well the shoes would matter alot due to the traction, weight, and fit for the athlete but I would think the effects of the suits would be negligable in terms of aerodynamics. One of our guys, don't remeber his name, had some silly sleeves on his arms seperate from his suit for aerodynamics but had long braids in his hair. Seems the two would increase drag. :meh:

Phelps got the 8th. Honestly a little sick of hearing about every move he made but kudos to such an amazing acomplishment.:clap:

I'm not tired of any of it. It's only once every four years so I'll watch whatever they broadcast.

BTW: the US men's water polo team is going to the medal round for the first time in 20 years! The game against the Germans to get them there was tight.

Sorry - CORRECTION:

I'm not tired of watching any of the events.

I was just tired of Phelps' saga taking up so much time they could be broadcasting other events!

Should clarify too, not at all sick of Phelps, just sick of hearing about every move he makes in his day when they should show more events. Yeah now I am like Boyd. :bounce: :hillbilly:

Ahhh, womens beach volleyball is on and all is good in the world :D

Mmmmmmmmmmm May and Walsh. :grinpimp:

I hear ya. I prefer to see more events and less theatrics/drama.

The China v. China women's beach volleyball was something. It was a loooong match.

Gold in men's and women's beach VB! Wow.

Medals in both men's and women's BMX. Very cool.

China is under investigation for age fraud in gymnastics.

All of the judging should be under investigation. The gymnastics were a dibocle. (SP?)

Big shockers were the womens Softball losing to Japan and getting silver!

And both mens & womens relay teams drop the baton and won't be in the medal race.

Not surprised about that one. Can they acutally do anything about it now that they are over? I thoght it was final once the events were done.

I agree. I can't believe the score they gave the first Chinese girl in the womens balance beam medal round. She probably shouldn't even have gotten the bronze.

Mens water polo just upset Serbia and will play Hungary in the gold medal game. This will be the first time mens water polo has medaled in 20 years. Odly enough their coach was the team captain when they won the last silver medal.

Not entirely sure. I believe I've heard of medals being taken away after events.

I watched that. The U.S. kinda ran away with scoring at the end there, much like Cuba did with the U.S. in baseball.

[edit]
U.S. beat Japan for the Bronze in baseball.

Well the wrestler who dropped his bronze medal in disgust had his medal stripped of him.

Good, he doesn't deserve it.

We got the gold in Basketball! I guess they learned about complacency from last time out.

It's over. :frown:

At the end of every Olympics, I always feel like I didn't see enough.

I learned this year that BMX & Mountain biking are Olympic sports! Didn't see any BMX but I did catch Mountain Biking this weekend.

I still have to watch the Closing ceremonies that's on my DVR so maybe after the Chargers game tonight.

My Pop called to let me know that BMX was on but it was 1 am and I didn't DVR it so I missed it. I would love to have seen the Mountain Biking and BMX. I do wish they would show more of the not as popular stuff. I know they can't do it prime time but what about re-broadcast later or something.
